I waited almost 2 years before I decided to disclose my possible encounter with a winged humanoid while traveling through the South Old Irving Park community of Chicago, Illinois.
I has finished filming 'The Mothman Revisited' episode for Unsolved Mysteries the previous day, and we were driving back home to Pennsylvania. The production company had hired a driver (Brad, who was raised in Northwest Indiana, now living near Baltimore, Maryland. He is also a filmmaker) to transport me from Pennsylvania to Chicago since my doctor had not cleared me to fly on an airliner because of my lung surgery a few months previous.
The trip, in general, was very pleasant, and Brad and I discussed the paranormal and cryptids for much of the trip. He had some knowledge about cryptids, but was surprised and interested when I told him that I was going to Chicago to film an episode about the Chicago Mothman phenomenon.
Previous to us starting our journey, several psychic and gifted friends and colleagues had told me that they felt that I would encounter something unusual during the trip, including my team member Bernadette McDaniel and my close friend Brett Butler. I had mentioned this to Brad, so we were on the 'lookout' while traveling. I explained to him that I had a winged humanoid encounter in 1988 in South Central Pennsylvania and that I believed, for some time, that there was a connection between my experience and my multiple-year research and investigation of the winged humanoid phenomenon in the Chicagoland region.
So, we were driving back after filming the episode. We had planned to stop at the University of Notre Dame since Brad grew up near there, and that I had never visited the campus.
The incident occurred on Monday, June 12, 2023, at approximately 10 AM. It was an overcast day but visibility was very good. I was riding in the back opposite side of the SUV while Brad was behind the wheel. We were driving south on I-90/I-94 and had just stopped in heavy traffic under the W. Addison St. overpass.
As we sat there, Brad and I both reacted to a large, winged being that suddenly burst out from under the overpass to our upper right. It was so quick that we were barely able to catch a glimpse of it, but we both distinctly observed a large, dark membraned wing on the left side of the creature. It quickly cleared the overpass and flew directly up and over the structure. It didn't seem to phase any of the other drivers who were in traffic with us. I don't believe that they had even seen it. In several of the previous reports of these winged humanoid sightings, just one or two witnesses would see the winged being while others nearby never noticed it, so I wasn't surprised by this lack of reaction.
So, did Brad and I witness the Chicago Mothman? Honestly, I can't confirm that we did, but I do believe that we received an acknowledgment of its presence before we left the Chicagoland region. What do you believe? Lon
