"It looked RIGHT at me, and I was horrified to see that it had a demonic, human-looking face. It almost looked like one of those Japanese demon masks!"
The following account was forwarded to me by my friends & colleagues Kyle & Cam at Expanded Perspectives:
"I’m emailing because one story from last week’s episode caught my attention. It was about a “Jinmenken” type creature—the human-faced cat that was reported to have been seen in 1976 in Michigan. I’m nearly sure I saw the exact same creature while on a road trip in Michigan in 2016.
Trying to keep the background brief, I’m a horse-drawn carriage driver by trade and I have my own small business now, doing that in the Hudson Valley, New York. Back in 2016, I had commissioned a custom carriage from a builder in Nashville, Michigan. When it was time to pick it up, I had a good friend, who also had his own carriage business, from Rhode Island go with me to pick it up. He had a box truck that was converted to haul horses, which could tow a cargo trailer that would contain the carriage.
I believe this happened on the return trip and I don’t recall exactly where, but I’m pretty sure it was in Michigan and not Pennsylvania or any of the states in between. We had picked up the carriage and begun our trip back, and rather than stay in a hotel, we pulled over to a rest area for the night. Because we had no horses in the box truck, we set up cots to sleep on in the stalls in the back of the truck. It was a warm night so there was no need to use a heater or fully close doors.
At some point that night, I awoke in a sleep paralysis state. I had this happen a couple times before so I wasn’t freaked out not knowing what it was or anything, but what happened next absolutely TERRIFIED me. I could see a large, lean, black cat-like creature coming around the truck from the left side to the back. When it stopped beside the back of the truck, it looked RIGHT at me, and I was horrified to see that it had a demonic, human-looking face. It almost looked like one of those Japanese demon masks, and it was sort of grinning.
Now I am NOT in any way religious, but all I could think of in my paralyzed state was to repeat over and over to myself “In the name of Jesus, be gone! In the name of Jesus, be gone!” And after a few times of thinking this as hard as I could, it turned and stalked off.
Since 2005, I have listened “religiously” to paranormal shows and stuff. However, in all my exploration of the subject, I have never encountered something quite like this. That’s why I was so shocked when I heard the story you told me last week. I don’t believe my mind could have fabricated this from what I had read or anything. In any case, I know what I saw, and it was creepy." A
NOTE: The Jinmenken is a human-faced dog. According to the legend, these bizarre creatures can be spotted at night in urban areas. Other people can see them running by the side of highways, and they do so apparently extremely fast, so fast that they can outrun cars. Lon
