"It stood above me looking down. Featureless. It then reached down a hand and placed it on me. Its touch felt icy cold. I sat bolt upright and looked it square in the face."
I received the following account:
"Hello. Three months ago, I had just moved to Doncaster, Melbourne, from Sydney. I worked in a home office and slept alone in the back room. I made some friends, and one night, we decided to play with a Ouija board for fun. After they left, I went to bed.
My house had old, squeaky wooden floors, and that night, I could hear something pacing slowly up and down outside the bedroom. (I always closed my door.) I got up and checked, but no one was there. It went quiet, and a few hours later, it happened again, and still no one. So, freaked out, I asked one of my mates to stay the next night. They slept on the couch, and I went to bed.
That night I heard the steps again, but this time my door opened and closed. A male figure stood at the door. At first, I thought it was my mate. But then I realized that I could still see the door through the figure. It stood for a while then moved towards me. I was frozen in place and could not move. As it got closer it got darker until it was a solid black shape. It was a man with a cape and a wide-brimmed hat. It stood above me looking down. Featureless. It then reached down a hand and placed it on me. Its touch felt icy cold and I was able to break out not being able to move and sat bolt upright and looked it square in the face. Where its eye should have been I could now see clearly two red dots. In a blink of an eye, it was then gone.
I know this was real. I put it down to a ghost story until about 3 or 4 years ago when I heard about the shadow people. And was amazed at how many others had seen this shadow hat man too. I have only seen it once." M
