LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man accused of killing his father told police that “aliens had told him to kill his father and that he felt like he was on a different planet,” according to the arrest report.
Timothy Sahrang La, 35, is facing a charge of murder with the use of a deadly weapon. He was taken into custody on the day of the killing, Feb. 5, in a Southwest Valley neighborhood.
Las Vegas Metropolitan police dispatched officers to the home near Blue Diamond Road and Decatur Boulevard after a “hysterical” woman, later identified as La’s mother, called police to report her 73-year-old husband, Eun Jin La, was unconscious and not breathing, the report said.
Eun Jin La, who was discovered in the master bedroom, suffered a gunshot wound to the back right side of his head, according to the Clark County Coroner’s office.
Police documents stated La’s mother told police their son lived with them but she had not seen him since the morning when she left for work. She described her son as having a medical condition which was redacted in the report.
Police found La walking in the neighborhood and took him into custody. During an interview with police about the shooting, he told them he believed “he was saving someone a ‘worker’ from being tortured” and “this ‘worker’ was wearing the skin of his father’s face,” according to the documents.
La told police that he walked around the neighborhood after the shooting. Police found the 9mm gun and a 9mm casing at the home.
La made his initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday morning. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 25.
