"Was it someone who looked exactly like my neighbor in our immediate neighborhood who also happened to own an identical Ford Bronco with the same custom accessory?"
I received the following account from a reader:
"Hey, Lon. Something strange happened as I was going for a run yesterday (2/22/2025). I was nearing the end and was on the street, where I would turn off onto the street I live on. I was literally just a few hundred feet from home. So as I was running I saw a light-blue Ford Bronco driving toward me which I instantly recognized as my neighbor's who lives three houses away. I knew it was my neighbor's car because there was a distinct bar across the grill which isn't standard, but that didn't matter anyway because I could also clearly see my neighbor's face in the driver's seat as he passed. I was on the left side of the road so the car came within only a couple of feet of me and I was certain it was my neighbor driving. I waved and he passed by so closely that I could see him looking directly at me and smiling back. One weird aspect of that moment was that it wasn't just a normal, polite grin someone makes in acknowledgment, but a large beaming smile that seemed out of place.
About 15 seconds later I made a right onto my street and onto the final stretch. Approximately 10 seconds after that, I became thoroughly confused. Right ahead, parked in front of my neighbor's house, was his light-blue Bronco. I had noticed the car when I had started my run because I had run right by it, and the way it was parked now was just as it had been when I had seen it about an hour prior, half on the front lawn and half in the street. It looked like it hadn't moved.
But regardless if it had moved, it still wouldn't explain what I had seen. The only way the car could have gotten back before I saw it parked at the house was if it had immediately turned around after passing me and gone directly back, but I obviously would have noticed that and I'm sure it never did. Even then, only a matter of seconds had elapsed and I would have at least seen my neighbor drive up, park, and get out of the car, there just wasn't enough time otherwise. The only other way he could have gotten back to our street without turning around would have been to do a large circle and approach using side streets from the other direction, however, this would have taken at minimum five minutes so that's impossible.
So what did I see? Was it someone who looked exactly like my neighbor in our immediate neighborhood who also happened to own an identical Ford Bronco with the same custom accessory? It's the only logical answer, but would be an amazing coincidence. In addition, if he didn't know me why did he flash that slightly unsettling smile back at me as I waved to him? I hesitate to say it was a time slip or a doppelgänger, but there's very little about the experience that makes sense to me." K
NOTE: It seems to me that it could have been a time slip or a coincidence. Nonetheless, it is still intriguing. Lon
