A family is stunned to learn that their father was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. Then a woman, unknown to the man's daughter, suddenly appears and prays with her.
I received the following account:
"This occurred in the parking lot of an emergency service clinic in Madison, Wisconsin. My father had been living with lymphoma for five years but started exhibiting stroke-like symptoms one day in April (nice weather plays a part in all this). I don't remember who in my family called me at work, but I was 45-50 minutes away.
When I arrived at the clinic, no one was with my dad; not my mom, not any medical personnel. My father was in a pleasant, but befuddled mood, able to chat but not clear on where people were. This was before anyone in my family had a cell phone. There was a phone on the wall next to Dad's bed which I used to call my husband at work, who had agreed to be a communication point, to ask what the hell was happening.
I recall hearing my spouse tell me that my father had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. I'm staring at Dad trying to not show my shock and devastation because he's been told but doesn't grasp this. While they had to wait for an ambulance transport to a hospital, my mom had run home for his meds and necessities. My husband says my mom had called and she hadn't found Dad's insurance card, so could I go look for that at their house so Mom can be with Dad.
OK, sure. I was numb. I drifted in a haze to my car in the very full parking lot. I rolled down my window as I started the car, and the flood of tears came. My sobbing was so physical that I couldn't back out of the spot.
Suddenly, a middle-aged African American woman appeared at my car window asking if she could pray with me. I managed to nod my assent, and she reached to hold my left hand. I don't remember anything she said but she was praying aloud. It calmed me. I instantly gained the mental and physical strength to cope with this tragedy.
Then, suddenly, she was gone. She simply vanished into thin air as I was looking at her!
I'm totally convinced that she was an Angel.
My Dad's aggressive brain tumor, against all the odds and to the surprise of the oncologists, disappeared within 3 months. He lived another 12 years and eventually passed away, not from lymphoma, but by natural causes. He was 93 years old." H
