As the result of the airing of 'The Mothman Revisited' episode in Season 4 of 'Unsolved Mysteries,' the producers collected reports from the viewers and forwarded the information to us.
The witnesses are being contacted to establish and confirm details of the sightings/encounters. If further information is received, it will be added to the report. We have received worldwide inquiries as well. The incidents specifically reported in the Chicagoland region can be found at the Chicago / Lake Michigan Winged Humanoid Regional Interactive Map
The original report:
"I believe I saw the Mothman when I was a child. The only difference is that I saw him in my home at the foot of the bed. And in just a blink of an eye, he was gone. I will never forget this moment. All these years I lived with this memory and never heard of this story or even knew of all these sightings. At the time I was a small child in the early 80s and we lived in the Little Village neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. After watching the Unsolved Mysteries episode it makes a lot more sense what I saw that night in my house." E
I later spoke to the witness by telephone:
I talked to Elizabeth by telephone to obtain further details about her encounter. This incident occurred in 1985 while she was living with relatives at 28th St. and S. Kildare Ave in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. This area had generated 11 previous Mothman reports, many of which had supernatural aspects involved.
Elizabeth was still experiencing trauma and confusion related to this encounter and she demonstrated obvious emotion when talking to me.
She had been in her bed when she awoke to, what she described as two bright red eyes peering at her from over the footboard. The face was bat-like, causing her to scream in terror.
When she watched the Unsolved Mysteries episode, that fear once again overwhelmed her. Her family refused to believe her story.
As I have stated previously, well over 50% of the sightings/encounters related to the winged humanoids have come from witnesses of Hispanic descent. This is an unexplained and interesting caveat to these Chicagoland reports.
NOTE: We have received reports from other winged humanoid witnesses that included other unexplained supernatural aspects of these beings, including observations of them in a home or other indoor location. As well, there have been a few instances when the being would simply vanish or manifest.
