PHANTOMS & MONSTERS NEWS: Exotic KINKAJOU Found in Yakima, WA! - ALEXANDER THE GREAT'S TOMB in Venice? - RED ROCKS UFO Mass Sighting

Exotic KINKAJOU Found in Yakima, WA!

An exotic mammal native to Central and South America somehow ended up on the streets of the Pacific Northwest.

On Sunday, June 23, a kinkajou — an animal in the same family as raccoons — was spotted at the Selah Creek rest area in Yakima. Washington State Department of Transportation’s Eastern office said the creature was rescued by the State Fish and Wildlife Department, but officials still aren’t sure whether it escaped or was abandoned.

The kinkajou is now being held at Tacoma’s Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, where staff quarantined it so veterinarians could conduct a “comprehensive wellness exam.”

“This young kinkajou’s survival is a testament to the collaborative efforts of state wildlife law enforcement and the Zoo, highlighting the dangers of the illegal pet trade,” a zoo spokesperson wrote on Facebook. “While kinkajous are not endangered, they are hunted for fur, meat, and the exotic pet trade, threatening their wild population.” Read more at Exotic mammal native to Central and South America spotted at Yakima rest stop

ALEXANDER THE GREAT'S TOMB in Venice?

Recently, Expedition Unknown sent Josh Gates to follow radiation expert Andrew Chugg as he retraced his research into the lost tomb of Alexander the Great. Chugg has published many articles and books over the past twenty years arguing that Alexander’s corpse is current in St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice. His speculative conclusions are intriguing and possible, but I keep getting hung up on the details.

Chugg’s argument is rooted in ancient texts, archaeology, and the absence of clear evidence. The Ptolemies set up a tomb for Alexander, called the Soma, in Alexandria in the late fourth century BCE. Its exact location is unknown, and various ancient authors differ on the contents of the tomb, writing variously that Alexander’s body lay in a sarcophagus of marble, gold, or crystal. The last clear report of the intact tomb occurs around 390 CE. An earthquake had likely damaged the Soma in 375 CE, and by 391 CE rampaging Christian extremists had ransacked most of what was left of pagan Alexandria, including the Serapeum. But Libanius, writing in 390, says the body itself was on display. Read more at  Is Alexander the Great's Body in St. Mark's Basilica in Venice?

RED ROCKS UFO Mass Sighting

When Michael Lehmann reported his story of a UFO encounter in the area of Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre to the National UFO Reporting Center, he didn't know it would go viral a few weeks later. But once the news of the report broke, the tale of the sighting quickly got picked up by numerous media sources around the country.

In short, Lehmann and about a dozen coworkers were working at the Morrison-area Red Rocks Amphitheatre in the early morning hours of June 5 following an event headlined by All Time Low when they spotted a massive unknown object estimated to be several hundred feet long in the night sky. After being present for about 30 seconds, the object described as metallic in nature and with three levels of windows seemed to vanish in thin air.

In conversation with Lehmann about the encounter, he provided details that are sure to answer some of the questions people might have about the incident.

Before digging in, it's worth noting that Lehmann described himself as a "hopeful skeptic" when it came to UFOs – someone who always wanted to 'believe' but found it difficult without personal proof. Read more at 'Red Rocks UFO' vanished when hit with beam from flashlight, says witness
