A couple are driving at night near Southgate, Michigan when they almost strike a 3-foot-tall 'little person' with their car. The description is gnome-like wearing strange clothes.
I received the following account:
" Hi, Lon. I wanted to share this with you. Maybe you can tell me what we encountered?
My husband and I were driving over a viaduct at 50 mph one night, around 10:30 pm in November 2018 near Southgate, Michigan. I was in the passenger seat, husband was driving. There were other cars around us, but not heavy traffic.
Anyway, I saw this thing, which looked like a cross between a gnome, and a dwarf, with long arms, hanging well past his knees. He walked right in front of our car from the right, going to the left.
I couldn't understand how and why we didn't hit it. I sat there shocked for a second, and then I saw my husband shoot up in his seat, looking in the rearview mirror, and he said, What was that?" He started telling me what he saw. It was exactly what I saw, but he saw it directly in front of him, (still going left) then he saw it behind us, and the car behind us reacted to it as well. But they swerved to avoid it.
This thing was about 3 feet tall. Very gruff and stubby looking, gnarly, thick features. It was human-like and had a hat on, a maroon vest, and brownish short pants. I didn't see the feet.
The moment I saw it, it was inches from the right front end of our car. We should have hit it. My husband saw it like a split second later, but it was in front of him on the driver's side. We should of it hit it!
Since that night, I still don't know what it was. Any ideas?" C
NOTE: I don't know if there is any indigenous lore about 'little people' in the area. Maybe a reader can shed some light on this. Lon
