A woman travels to Sweden, staying at a friend's apartment. One night she observes a squat, hairy being in an apartment kitchen window across the way. She had no idea what she saw.
I received the following account:
"Greeting. I thought that I'd write you because, frankly, I have pondered on this for almost a decade and still have no idea what I witnessed.
In June 2014 I had to travel to Sweden for a few days and was staying at a friend's place in Lund. This friend had recently moved to a new apartment after breaking up with her partner, and it was my first time visiting this new flat. It's a typical apartment from the early-mid 20th Century with creaky wooden floors, old piping, tiled bathroom.
It was the evening of my first day and I was getting ready to sleep. I was going to be sleeping on the couch in the living room, which had a large window overlooking the street. The living room was unlit except for a lamp, and I was looking out of the window into the streets below. This was about 11pm, which in Sweden in summer means that it's still pretty light outside. Across the street was a really nice apartment block and I was absentmindedly looking at the nice penthouses on the top.
At one point I looked somewhat down and ended up looking into a window on the first or second floor of this apartment block opposite where I was. Inside the room seemed to be a kitchen I could see a table with some chairs. By the chair facing my direction was a furry shape.
Now you know how when you're looking around absentmindedly and your gaze falls onto a form or object that you cannot make out? You sort of keep staring at it without really comprehending, while your brain tries to interpret what it's seeing.
Well, my eyes fell onto what looked like a rather large barrel-chested torso covered in brown hair. Light brown in the center and dark on the edges. This torso had two long arms and I knew that whatever it was was looking towards my direction. I was still trying to make out what I was looking at when the thing, still facing me, seemed to stiffen, as if it had noticed me (or so I thought), and moved backward and sideways into a darker passageway or room, and out of sight.
I felt at that point that while I hadn't made out what the figure was, it was hairy, did not look human (too squat and way too hairy), and seemed to have noticed me and moved back as 'smoothly' as it could, as if not to draw too much attention or not to have to waste time turning around. Just stepped back where it could not be seen.
I was pretty creeped out by the incident and I was quite uncomfortable falling asleep, but I couldn't feel scared because I hadn't quite made out what exactly I had seen. I may have seen a person in a costume or a pet chimpanzee. I don't know.
What disturbed me was the fact the thing seemingly noticed me and stepped back from view, as if it knew it should not be seen.
The fact that I couldn't make out what it was excludes a 'normal' person since over the 4 or 5 seconds over which this happened I would have made out the shape of a human. The thing was squat and broad. Maybe it was just a really short, barrel-chested hairy guy, who knows." J
