A teen girl and her friend are on the Ouija board and receive revelations about their unfortunate futures. She writes me to to warn others about the consequences.
I received the following account from a reader:
"Hey, I just read some of your Ouija board stories. I have a personal account to bolster your warning to others.
I was right around 14 years old the first time I experienced the Ouija board. There were four of us in the house. It was myself (14 F), my childhood friend (14 M 'Kit'), and our mothers who were best friends.
At the time, they were staying with us for a short time in our small house and most of their personal belongings were stacked in boxes in the basement.
Our moms were sitting over cards and coffee in the dining room, and Kit and I were sitting on the family room floor in their line of sight.
He had told me about previous scary experiences he had had with the board that I found hard to believe. Especially stories of how he had tried to get rid of the board but it always "came back." He was hesitant to break out the board, and I was hesitant to believe there was any truth to it. So, we made an agreement, he would break out the board and as we used it, we would ask our questions silently in our heads, not out loud.
I was made a believer pretty quick. Sure yes or no questions are easy to manipulate. But how could he possibly have any idea to spell out words and then complete sentences in answer to the questions I thought? I certainly wasn't faking any answers.
I asked some typical teen questions, "Does he love me?" Yes. "Will we be married?" No. "Who will I marry?" A no-good rotten bastard just like your father. I seem to remember a whole series of expletives beyond that describing my husband. It had us wide-eyed, laughing in shock. We asked so many questions for a long time. We would ask who we were talking to but it did not like those types of questions. We did get terrified. All the lights would repeatedly flash off and on, and the planchette would race across the board quickly at times.
Then we heard a loud crash from the basement and we all went down together to find the stacks of boxes strewn across the floor. I feel tears welling up inside at the memory. Kit asked when he would die. I honestly can't remember the exact age it said, I just remember it was young. Too young. I was told I would die at 87. I'm halfway there.
Later that same night my mother and I got on the Ouija board together, and we did it in a similar fashion with silent questions, although we did start asking out loud. This "spirit" was of a different nature than the previous. It told us (basically) that his name was Anders, he was from Oslo and he was in limbo waiting for his son. He had been driving drunk and his son was crippled. Anders was killed and he was sad for what he had done.
My friend Kit died at age 36. My heart was ripped out of me and crushed when he died. Eventually, I was able to piece much of it back together again. I did marry that no-good rotten bastard who beat my kids. 2 years into the marriage I learned he had killed his first wife and dumped her body in the river. I never touched nor looked twice at a Ouija board after that day, and warned anyone who talked about it, especially my children, to stay away from it!" P
