A Northern Ontario First Nations man describes a 70-year-old account of a Brontosaurus that was said to exist in a modern-day deep lake just north of his home.
I received the following account:
"From Northern Ontario here along Hudson Bay and there's been many sightings of strange creatures in this area where I live. The first one I was told about is the Hairy Man who lives between the town I live in and approximately 45 minutes north of it.
As a kid, I was told stories about him and how my friends parents/relatives encountered what is essentially Bigfoot. I always took their stories with a grain of salt until last year when my friend and his family were driving north of here and they saw it walk out of a ditch, cross the highway, and disappear into the woods. A family traveling in a minivan coming from the other direction also stopped and witnessed the event. The police were called and when they showed up all they found were two excited families, a print or two of huge feet, and a strong smell of what they described as rotting garbage.
The second story I heard was about a dinosaur sighting that was witnessed by quite a few people at a lake also north of here. This sighting took place approximately 70 years ago at a now-long-abandoned town at the edge of the lake.
One elder I heard the story from told me they watched what looked like a Brontosaurus walking through the forest with the head of it clearing the top of the forest canopy. They watched it slowly walk to the lake and then swim out to where the lake got huge and disappeared around the bend. To help you picture what the area looks like picture an upside down snowman with the town located at the top of the head and the larger part of the lake the midsection of the body. The dinosaur they said went from left to right before disappearing out of sight. Of course, most people don't believe that a dinosaur still exists but, for whatever reason, I think that it is true."
