An experienced hiker was in the Sierra Nevada Range near Tahoe City when he encountered a giant 5-foot-tall upright praying mantis humanoid that had landed near him.
I received the following account:
"Hi, Lon. I heard you on Spaced Out Radio last night talking about the crawler humanoids (Penelope) in the Sierra Nevada range. I had a strange encounter in the Sierra Nevada outside of Tahoe City about 8 years ago that I just can't explain.
I was solo backpacking in the area and I'm extremely familiar with the Mt. Dana area. I wanted to test some new gear before a more serious backpacking trip. It was about 5 pm and I was at around 7000+ feet on a ridge with a very breathtaking and interesting outcropping. The stone was very geometric and when you knocked on it rang like a hollow storage tank. I kept some pieces of the rock because I found them interesting.
As I'm putting the rocks I picked into my backpack for the hike down to a spot I had selected earlier for camp I hear a fluttering noise not unlike a pigeon landing. I turn my head quickly but without much thought to see the bird and what I see instead is a huge praying mantis! This mantis was at least 5 feet long! It stood erect and its abdomen was curved to a very extreme angle allowing it to stand roughly chest height to me. In some respects, it looked and acted human-like!
I was crouched down so the thing was eye level. It grabbed a piece of food I had been eating and stared at me as it ate it. Then its wings popped out and it flew off.
I felt extremely nauseous and had a bad migraine afterward. I chalk it up to dehydration and a migraine but the memory is so real. What do you believe I encountered? I tried to get a photograph of it but it took off before I could get my phone."
NOTE: I have heard a variety of strange accounts from the Sierra Nevada Mountains, including Mantis humanoids encounters by campers and hikers. Are they otherworldly beings? I really don't know, but these mountains definitely hold a lot of secrets! Lon
