A group of U.S. Marines get an overwhelming sense of fear while on patrol. Back at the base, a loud distant howl is heard. When an instructor is asked about it he confirms it was Bigfoot.
"Back in 1995, I was a young marine training in Bridgeport, California at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center. We did training for a couple of weeks at the base. There was no snow but it was cold at night. We started doing rock climbing and bridge making, basic stuff.
Then we went into night patrols and night navigation. I was with my fire team which consisted of three other marines and me. We were out for a couple of hours when all of a sudden I had this sense of fear come over me, something I had never felt before. My Marines felt it too. We were like, ‘What in the hell is that?’ We did not hear anything nor did we see anything just that overwhelming fear from out of nowhere.
After a few minutes of looking around with our flashlights and freaking each other out, we decided to move on and continue what we were doing. We finished our assignment and then headed back to the base camp. That sense of fear never went away. It was with us for the remaining 4 hours it took us to complete what we needed to do.
As we got to base camp the feeling went away. At the time I shrugged it off as we just got spooked and being around everyone else made us feel better. Towards the end of our training, we were offered liberty in Reno. I, of course, was broke so I stayed on base. We slept in large GP tents and a few of us stayed back.
One night we were outside just enjoying the night with one of the bass instructors. He was stationed there and had been there for 2 years. Then in the distance, we heard something howl. It didn't sound like a wolf but more like a yell. It was loud but we could tell it was far away. I asked the instructor what the hell was that? He did not say anything at first he just looked at us then he said, ‘It was a Bigfoot.' One of my friends chuckled but I did not think it was funny because of the look on his face.
I spoke with him later in private and he told me he had seen them more than once on the base and was told not to talk about them. That was all that happened but I did not put the fear I felt on the mountain in the same category as Bigfoot until later."
