A reader and two other fishing companions claim to have seen and caught a 3-foot-long Bullfrog near Brushy Creek in the area of Round Rock, Texas!
I received the following account from a reader:
"Good evening. Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of your blog.
This would have happened sometime during the summer of 1983 near Round Rock, Texas. My brother, my buddy Sam, and I were doing some night fishing at Brushy Creek, down by the dam.
As we were walking up to the dam, you could see something sitting on the bank facing the water. At first, we thought it was a dog. As we crept closer, to our amazement we realized it was a bullfrog!
As you may know, the best way to catch a bullfrog is by sneaking up directly behind it. That's what I did. I got close enough and pounced on it. Lon, I kid you not, the thing was 3-foot-long and incredibly strong! We checked it out, let it go, and went after some catfish.
I'm 54 and never have I seen a frog that compares, not even the one in Guinness Book of World Records. I reached out to my buddy from that night and his recollection was identical to mine." Best regards, WE
