Unknown Entity Encounter
Omaha, Nebraska - 2018-03-03: This was probably about my hundredth search for UFOs. Since about 2001, i have gone out driving near my home every once in a while. I have never, before this, encountered anything more than a probably a misidentified ball of light. Needless to say, I succeeded last Saturday night.
I was driving in a remote area of rural Douglas County, somewhere to the north of Elkhorn. When I first noticed the object was a disc of light in the sky off to the west. It disappeared after approximately 5 seconds. Approximately 30 seconds later, my car was engulfed in light. Almost immediately afterward, a large-ish (18-wheeler size?) disc of light similar to incandescent bulb warm light had landed in front of me.
After about a minute, a bright blue ball (then varying shape) of light (entity?) appeared in my car on the passenger's seat next to me. It was about 6 feet tall and an irregular shape. The being(?) constantly varied in shape, although more or less taking the shape of the seat it was on. However, it never was anything other than a blue light.
About 30 seconds later, my car overheated, stopped, and nearly injured me. As soon as the car began to become insanely hot, the aliens and light disappeared. The temperature, according to the meter in the car, reached 114 degrees. I needed to open the door, which was now possible with the lack of aliens.

A Time Traveler in Tibet, Part II

My career with the East India Company did not really take off until the arrival of Warren Hastings at the Calcutta office in February 1772. Hastings clearly foresaw the need for younger blood assuming the reins of power. Straight away Hastings cleared a way for the new generation. Counted among this emerging group, I found myself in league with many good comrades. In this band was found my close friend, Alexander Elliot, the young brother of Lord Minto. All of the most excellent peerage, we would advance the interests of the Empire together, or die trying.
Following the inspection tour of the newly arrived Hastings in the latter part of 1772 and carrying over into the start of 1773, I dare say that the gentleman was duly impressed with my reports on the conflicting situations in the Bhutan territory, to the north. Hastings, after perusing my detailed notes on the recently erupted Bhutanese war, had informed me that, “Given your position and excellent character, you are my obvious choice to head the mission that will extend the East India Company’s greetings to the Panchen Lama. If anyone can open the door more widely for access to Tibet, it is you, dear George.”
One of my primary duties in pushing north toward Tibet included the formation of a British outpost in Cooch Behar, a city acting as a forward extension of India wedged between East Pakistan and Bhutan. It was the fortress capital of a small but strategically important state. Our team would remain there for a few days, equipping our party with all provisions necessary before embarking on our northern excursion. At Cooch Behar we also signed on a large contingent of Bengali servants. In the fortress, we bedded down with these Bengalis that would accompany us on our journey, and took note that they enjoined the habit of sleeping with their entire families. Perhaps they feared that they might never see their dear loved ones again, as it was rumored that the passes into Tibet were controlled by fierce Chinese warriors dispatched from the Emperor himself, zealous defenders who took no prisoners.
Bhutan is nearly as mysterious as Tibet. It served as a buffer state between the Indian extension to the south and Tibet in the north. Bhutan, it seems, has much in common with its northern neighbor. As we departed Cooch Behar, our cavalcade came to a quaking two-chain suspension bridge at Lumbulong, along the northern border of the extension, crossing into Bhutan. Once on the other side, we could proceed through a deep mountain pass to the capital city of Tassisudon, situated at some 7,300 feet above sea level. When we looked down as we proceeded along our journey, our party noticed a plethora of rickety wooden bridges spanning the gulfs along the trail connecting scattered hamlets. Along the river banks there were rice patties; and in the gentler hillsides, above these profusion of villages could be seen the waving fields of wheat. Beyond these, at the yet higher climes, Buddhist monasteries clung to the jutting crags. These were the lofty castles inhabited by some 3,000 fakirs, by which I mean to say Buddhist monks. The Bhutanese follow a more emotive brand of Buddhism, known as the Red Hat variety, in contrast to the Tibetans, whom we later discovered were adherents to the subtler, sedative form called after the Yellow Hat.
The Bhutanese social system was closely observed. In my report to Hastings, I penned that, “I found a great congeniality in the informal manners of the Bhutanese. They are devoid of Indian caste prejudices, and little burdened with the class divisions of the English. Even the most powerful had no pride, and live among their servants and dependents on the most familiar footing.
“The more I see of the Bhutanese, the more I am pleased with them. The common people are good-humoured, downright, and, I think, thoroughly trusty. The statesmen have some of the art which belongs to their profession. They are the best-built race of men I ever saw; many of them very handsome, with complexions as fair as the French. I am especially impressed by the self-sufficiency of Bhutanese life. It was an unluxurious but adequate way of existence and carried on almost without division of labour. The army was a militia raised from the peasantry, and crafts were practiced within the peasant households.”
Unlike the more isolated Tibetans, however, the Bhutanese at times found themselves at war with themselves, peeling off into various political factions, or even with their neighbors, repelling invasions or carrying out raids of their own. From this, I concluded that real settlements can never be achieved by force. In years past, a small British contingent, led by Captain John Jones, who marched up from Cooch Behar attempting to establish a foothold in these parts, had to retreat all the way to Calcutta insofar as the land itself proved more tenacious than even its Bhutanese defenders. Jones later realized that the Bhutanese could have slaughtered him and his men on the spot, but fortunately they led him into an arroyo that provided for one way of escape, which he happily took advantage of.
Having arrived safely in the capital of Tassisudon, after considerable time we gained the trust of Bhutan’s spiritual leader, the Dharma Raja, and later the country’s secular authority, the Deb Raja. As such, there existed this division of powers between the spiritual and administrative branches of governance in Bhutan; but much more so than in Tibet, there occasioned a greater overlap of duties between the two Rajas. An envoy was sent to the leading Lamas in Tibet for permission to continue our journey. Pending arrival of a response, we were graciously allowed to remain at Tassisudon, whence we conducted a reconnaissance of the capital city and its surrounding area for my report to Mr. Hastings. Once permission had been granted by the Panchen Lama in a letter brought to us by our envoy, winter was already beginning to set in, but regardless, we continued on our perilous mountain trek to the northern passes into Tibet and the legendary mountain of silver located on the border.
As we steadily made our way north, we began to encounter many strange phenomena: ghost singers on the peaks and in the valleys as we approached the border, fierce dogs roaming about in the cover of darkness and growling at any of us who happened to venture outside in the wee hours, hives of bees that would assemble around us in castle retreats but never sting us, scavenger birds devouring human flesh along the pathways we were taking, and Hindu servants deserting us in droves upon hearing rumors from locals that we were about to ascend the Mountain of the Gods, whence mysterious fires and lights were shooting out through the cold and starry nights. The indigenous inhabitants assured us that it would be better if we could turn back now, because the “gods of the mountain” would not take kindly to any encroachment on their territory.
