Pythons by the Ton
Researchers have removed 43 Burmese pythons, which together weigh a ton, from a single county in southwest Florida, One of the male pythons that measured nearly 16 feet is the longest on record, according to the Miami Herald.
“It’s just kind of jaw-dropping,” biologist Ian Bartoszek, with the nonprofit environmental group Conservancy of Southwest Florida, told the Herald. The reptiles have been removed from Collier County over the last three months by biologists from that group as well as by Denison University biologist Paul Andreadis, the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and the United States Geological Survey.
In the last two decades, Burmese pythons have established breeding populations in several areas of South Florida, and continue to spread. They have wreaked havoc on populations of a number of different native animals, including endangered species such as Key Largo wood rats and wood storks. In 2012, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service banned the importation and interstate trade of the Burmese pythons into the United States.
In February, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission wrapped up its month-long python challenge, during which time volunteers from 29 states captured 106 snakes. The competition gives cash prizes to those who catch the most, and the largest, snakes.
To catch pythons in Collier County, biologists have started using so-called “snitch snakes,” which are pythons outfitted with tracking collars. Pythons occasionally congregate in burrows to breed, so releasing a GPS-tapped snake in a new territory can lead scientists to yet more snakes.

Wavy Red Entity / Possible Alien Being
Coupville, WA - 6/15/2015: On my back deck, taking pictures and filming activity as I do almost every night. watching and waiting for activity. I was filming a red wavy entity in the sky, and I don't know what I was thinking, next I notice lights to the top right and various shaped lights as I filmed. Finally, my brained started thinking, hey, these things are really here, ran in the house and filmed from there. After I forgot about the film because I filmed the rest of the morning from the inside of the house, that it even exists. Once I finally uploaded and watched the film, I noticed the alien on the bottom left hand of the video, that keeps appearing. You can even see that it is hiding from me, it gets captured in the film as I zoom in in out. I did not even know it was there. I need this film to be verified. I know it is the real thing because I did it myself. I have before and after information of everything I took pictures of and videoed. Funny thing is that the same day my daughter went for a walk in the woods and took a picture of what she thought was the sun. There is a wavy red thing, Shrimp shaped reddish orange thing, several balls, blue and white (that turn into the triangle) and the lights that appear at the top right corner, plus the ones in the back that seem to hide in the night. Witness Observation
At approximately 0500 on January 4, 2016 I was traveling to work on FM 1375 heading east towards I-45. As I was approaching the river bridge I saw a reflection of eyes from the bridge and thought it was deer eyes. As I got closer the eyes were approximately 7-8 feet high. Then I noticed the body of this "thing." It was huge. I have spent many a year in the woods and I have never seen anything like this. When I first saw it I thought it was a person or maybe a bear standing on its hind legs. But by its size alone it was clear it was not a person.

Woman found dead in walk-in freezer
A kitchen worker died after she was apparently trapped inside of a walk-in freezer for about 13 hours at a downtown Atlanta hotel, police said Tuesday.
A search for the woman began when she didn't return home after her shift at the Westin Peachtree Plaza, one of the city's most recognisable skyscrapers with its cylindrical shape. Investigators reviewed hotel surveillance video, and they believe she may have entered the freezer about 8pm on Monday. She was found shortly after 9am on Tuesday, Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton said.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as Carolyn Robinson, 61, of East Point.
There was evidence the woman tried to get out of the freezer, but Hampton didn't elaborate on what led investigators to believe that.
"It appears that there was some type of mechanism to allow anyone who was inside to be able to exit," Hampton said. He wasn't sure if it was working properly.
"Right now there does not appear to be any foul play," Hampton said.
The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating, spokesman Michael D'Aquino said in an email.
The hotel said in a statement it was devastated by the tragic loss of its long-time worker.
"We are working closely with the authorities in their investigation, and we are providing whatever support that we can for her family," the statement said.
Police plan to wait for an autopsy to determine whether the woman had any type of medical condition that may have prevented her from getting out, Hampton said. - Woman found dead in freezer in hotel
