Yuri El Diablo Grisendi says he’s never seen anything like the huge catfish, which put up an hour-long struggle before he finally landed it
What a catch! This fisherman reeled in a genuine monster of the deep with a whopping 19 stone catfish.
The eye-watering catch could be the biggest catfish ever caught after Yuri El Diablo Grisendi caught the monster fish in the River Po near Mantova, Italy.
The 38-year-old from Reggio Nell Emilia has been fishing for 20 years but he’s never seen anything like the beast he hooked on 15 September 2015.
He said: “I’ve never seen anything like it.
“I’ve been fishing for 20 years but I’ve never seen a catfish like this - it was a monster.
“It’s comfortably the biggest fish I’ve ever caught - 265lbs is absolutely massive.”
Yuri hooked took just over an hour to reel in the other-worldly fish but he’s in no doubt that every second was worth it.
He said: “It’s by far the biggest fish I've ever caught and it put up a real fight but it was worth every second.

Government Data Shows U.S. Being Bombarded With Fukushima Radiation 1,000 Times Higher Than Normal
In the months following the 2011 meltdowns at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, residents of Los Angeles were being exposed to levels of dangerous alpha radiation nearly 1,000 times above normal levels, a government study found.
The data came from a July 2012 presentation at the National Conference on Radiation Control. The presentation was given by Joji Ortego, Principal Radiation Protection Specialist for Los Angeles County Radiation Management.
Following the Fukushima meltdowns, Los Angeles county heard many concerns from residents about the potential health impacts of radiation crossing the Pacific Ocean from the disaster. So they commissioned a study of radiation levels in the area. The report notes that federal agencies delayed in providing information to the county, and that the state Radiologic Health Branch was unable to provide inspectors due to budget constraints. The state lab was unable to provide a reasonable turnaround time for sample analysis, so the county instead hired a local radiation monitor manufacturer for the analysis.
Radiation levels exceed federal thresholds
Samples were taken between April 29 and May 2, 2011, approximately seven weeks after the radioactive releases from Fukushima. The county found that gross alpha radiation levels at a location in Los Angeles were 300 femtocuries per cubic meter (fCi/m3), and levels at a Hacienda Heights location were 200 fCi/m3.
For context, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory reports the average (annual median) level of gross alpha activity for the state of California as just 0.38 fCi/m3 – that is, 790 times lower.
The levels detected in Los Angeles County were a full 100 times higher than the level that requires an investigation at a U.S. nuclear laboratory, according to the Environmental Monitoring Plan at Brookhaven National Laboratory: “If the gross alpha activity in the [air] filters is greater than 3 fCi/m3, then collect more samples in the vicinity, and project manager will review all detections above the limits … All values greater than the above-stated gross alpha/beta concentration shall trigger an investigation.”
Finally, the Los Angeles County levels were almost 15 times higher than the federal regulatory limit for alpha radiation, which is 21 fCi/m3, according to a 2010 document from Idaho National Laboratory.
What do all these numbers mean for human and environmental health?
Alpha radiation is one of four major types of radiation emitted by radioactive atoms. It is also referred to as “alpha particles,” or a “Helium nucleus.” Other types of radiation are beta radiation, gamma radiation and neutrons.
Of alpha, beta and gamma radiation, alpha radiation is by far the most dangerous if found inside the human body. That’s because unlike beta or gamma radiation, alpha radiation is easily absorbed by cells, where it can cause serious damage, including to DNA. Alpha particles can enter the body if they contaminate food or water, or if they are breathed in – hence the concern among both nuclear laboratories and Los Angeles county about airborne levels of alpha radiation.
The alpha radiation detected from the Fukushima disaster most likely comes from plutonium 239, which is produced as a byproduct in many nuclear reactors. No alpha radiation, however, is emitted by cesium-137, which is probably the most prolific isotope emitted by Fukushima that is still circulating in the environment (iodine-131, also emitted in large quantities, has a very short half life and has probably mostly vanished from the environment by now).
But whereas the beta and gamma radiation emitted by radioactive cesium may not be as dangerous from within the body, it is actually far more dangerous if found outside the body – for example, in the contaminated water and soil around the Fukushima plant, or the contaminated water being dumped into the Pacific Ocean. 200-Year-Old Giant Salamander Surfaces
It isn’t every day that you get to take a look back into the time of the dinosaurs. But last week, just such an opportunity arose for scientists in the southwestern city of Chongqing, China. A group of four spelunkers were the first to discover the nearly five foot long Giant salamander, which weighed in at over 110 pounds. After taking some videos of their find, they contacted local wildlife researchers who quickly descended on the scene.
The researchers and scientists who then went to the cave could not believe their eyes. The Giant salamander was among the largest found in China within the last century. While the species, which is the largest amphibian on the planet, can grow up to six feet in length, most do not survive long enough to reach such a mature size. To put it in perspective, the recently located animal is over 200 years old, and has survived due to the isolation of its tidal pool located in the remote caves.
The biggest problem facing Giant salamanders is that in China they are considered a delicacy. On top of this, their brown, rubbery flesh is believed to have curative properties that can improve the appearance of humans’ skin. As a result, they are often targeted by poachers, who have little trouble capturing the slow-moving animals in nets. During the 1960s, over 33,000 pounds of Giant salamander meat was harvested from a single prefecture in the Hunan province every year. Those are the sorts of statistics that makes the latest find so special.
Not wanting the fame of the Giant salamander to be its undoing, scientists moved the protected species to a pool inside of a local research center where additional tests will be run. While it is unlikely that this giant creature will ever be released back into the wild, the species as a whole has had a pretty good run. These ‘monsters’ have roamed the Earth’s waterways for over 170 million years and even lived alongside the dinosaurs. Last night, or rather this morning, at around 2am, my partner experienced an abduction, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She was asleep, and found herself searching, for something unknown.
Then, she 'knew' that there was something, that came from the earth, that resembled a square mist, that had copper strands inside it.
She remembered that this thing became visible, and she was devastated, because she would then not be able to reach the perfect stuff. She got upset and tried to awaken me, I just lay still.
Then, she accompanied her 'young Grey', and recalls floating above flowers and grass, a small patch, and then came face to face with an older, very large Grey. She called him Wisdom.
He then, telepathically spoke. She told him what's she saw and what happened with the mist thing..
He told her: " We, (referring to himself and the others behind him, and to me ((name deleted)),) can NEVER become tainted. Never ever." She felt intense overwhelming feeling of love, and he took her hand, opened it, and put in a necklace with an infinity sign, which shone brightly and was covered in darkness. He then said, "You may go now." She then, accompanied by her younger Grey, left to go back to bed. She then woke up.
