After Blazing Siberian UFO Sighting, Expert Offers Scary Explanation
When a spectacular bright object descended from the evening sky on Nov. 17 over several cities in Siberia, many people thought they were seeing a UFO -- especially when an official explanation of the event wasn't immediately offered.
Initial theories and online comments ran the gamut from UFO to an alien wormhole connecting our galactic neighborhood to another, to an undisclosed secret military rocket launch.
A similar incident took place earlier in November over California when many residents reported seeing almost the same thing that Siberians would witness almost two weeks later.
That West Coast object was identified as "an unarmed missile test-fired from a Navy submarine," the Associated Press reported.
The AP indicated how Navy Strategic Systems Programs frequently conducts classified missile launches "to ensure the continued reliability of the system."
But what about the Siberian event?
"It was the twelfth test in a bizarre Russian missile program to develop defense-penetrating warheads," reports James Oberg, NBC News space consultant on all American, Russian and other foreign space-related issues.
Oberg told The Huffington Post in an email how the Siberian missile episode unfolded.
"The just-launched missile coasts for several minutes and then fires its last stage pushing the warhead downwards into a special radar test range. The plume, then actually higher in the sky, gets to be more than 100 miles long, perhaps 500-600 miles in space before falling back into the atmosphere. Half of the tests have occurred within an hour of sunset. For millions of people along the route, a triangle cloud suddenly appears from nowhere and grows for 60 seconds. Then the nose flares into a brief spiral and fades away."

Tall Skinny Beings and Strange Red Lights
South Dakota - 1994-05-01 - 1:00AM: I was in front of my house, returning home with my friend after a walk. I was about ten-years-old. My family lived in the woods in western South Dakota. I saw an aircraft-like object that was diamond in shape. At first I thought it was a plane because we lived near an Air Force base, but it wasn't like any plane I had ever seen before: it was flying sideways in a vertical diamond shape, which drew our attention. The craft seemed to hover. We watched it for a while. It came closer to us and lowered in elevation. Then, it disappeared over the horizon. We chatted for a while about it, and several minutes later I saw two tall, dark shapes emerging from the woods in the direction from where the UFO disappeared. They were taller than humans, approximately 15 feet, skinny, dark-toned. I couldn't make out any features. I was scared so I ran into the house; my friend didn't see them but followed me into the house, scared by my abrupt, terrified departure. This occurred at approximately 10:00 PM.
Later, at 1:00 AM, I was alone in my room. I was reading in bed and listening to the radio. I went to sleep, turned off my light, and almost as soon as I turned off my light and got back into bed a red glowing light emerged from behind the blinds of my room's window. I was curious to see what was causing it, so I, remaining in bed, reached for the blind and pushed a few blind slots apart. It looked very blustery outside: debris was flying around, the trees were shaking. However, I couldn't hear a sound, and normally I could hear wind very clearly in that bedroom. The entire sky appeared dullish red. All of the objects outside also appeared red, as if there were a red lens over everything. I looked through the blinds for a literal second, maybe two, and then closed them in fear. Almost as soon as I stopped looking the red light disappeared. I remained awake for the rest of the night, until dawn.
Since this occurred, on several occasions I have woken up in strange locations inside my house and, one time, in the backyard. I did not know how I had gotten there. - MUFON CMS

The Signs
I recently received the following inquiry:
I have had my share of brushes with different types of paranormal experiences, those described below seems to be a kind of synchronicity but of a type I am not familiar with. These two episodes are singular in my experience, up to now.
I was about eight years old when one day I was at a weekend picnic at Fort Rucker Alabama. While the adult were having a good time doing what adults do, I was out wandering alone along the various paths through the trees and red clay soil; I found lying in plain sight in front of me a perfect stone Indian arrowhead, just there on the surface of the path. I looked at it in wonder, then put it in my pocket and ran to find my Father to show it to him. It was gone, I didn’t lose it, the pocket was without a hole, it was just gone. All my life I have had a trait; I don’t lose things. I shook my head in sorrow, and after retracing my steps several times, forgot about it.
Later, as an Army officer, serving in Berlin, I visited an old 19th century German Army Kaserne that was now just a place to take a walk among the trees and flowers for the Berliners. I was there as well, wandering along the paths among the others when I spotted a bright coin on the path, this time it was a pristine 19th c German coin, again I put in my pocket, deciding to look at it more closely back at my place. It vanished.
I'm puzzled by this; did I again attract someone’s attention? Is it a game? Or a sign /interaction with meaning. All I can think is that on both occasions, I was apparently noticed by, whoever they are and wherever, and given a symbol to remind me of those who had been there before, and, to reinforce the point, made mystery of it by taking it back so I would not think of them as random finds.

NOTE: My response to Chris: Objects vanishing, especially recently found items vanishing, is a phenomenon I read about occasionally. Seems to me that a person may be seeing and touching an object from an alternate reality...that eventually goes back to it original location.

Lost Time Incident / Possible Morgellons Disease
David in Summerville, South Carolina called in to tell a strange story.
“Years ago when I was in the Navy, my wife and I were driving from Rock Hill to Groton, Connecticut. And we'd gone up through the mountains and come around that way so we'd avoid all the tolls. Anyway, we came in too hard through Hartford, Connecticut. When we got to Hartford, Connecticut... We were driving through there and it seemed kind of strange, because everybody... people were working on the road and all that but nobody was doing anything. Everybody was just standing still. Then, all of a sudden, we were 9 miles out of New Haven Connecticut. We lost all that time between Hartford, Connecticut and 9 miles outside of New Haven, Connecticut. And, anyway, we lost all that time in between and the wife and I talked about it and all that, right. This was all years gone by, right. So this was about four or five years later, the wife and I. Well, the wife first turned out she had this thing develop on her side. It puckered and started festering and this piece of plastic came out her side. It had some kind of design on it or something like that, right. And about a couple weeks later, the same thing happened to me.”
