Daily 2 Cents: Dream-State Encounter -- 100 Brains Go Missing -- Anaconda Man Explains 'Eaten Alive' Stunt

Dream-State Encounter

It was one early morning around 5-6am. I had awoke to the radio alarm, turned it off and decided that I could manage another 5-10 minutes of sleep before rising. As I lay there, half asleep everything in my minds eye suddenly went jet black. This darkness seemed alive and carried a softness that puzzled me. I remember thinking to myself, what is this? Soon after that thought the void began to move away from me. I then realised that I had been looking at an eye! The face ahead in the gloom looked like an old guy wearing extra large sun glasses - which amused me for a few seconds. It then moved a little closer to my line of sight and that's when I realised that this old guy was infact an alien thing. It looked aged, saggy skin along the mouth area, a small nose between its large bulging eyes with bumps and veins along the brow and crown area. It felt peaceful even though its appearance suggested otherwise. I recall asking myself questions such as, who are you?, what are you? etc. It soon replied (British style upper class accent) 'I am nothing, wake up.' As that reply sank in, shock and fear crept into this experience which resulted in a swift return to consciousness.

Since that strange experience, I've tried many times to draw what I saw - the image attached is the best likeness. It looks daunting but I never felt anything to fear from it. To this day, I feel that this creature is a guardian, guide or elder of some sort. It has left me believing that spirit guides come in all shapes and sizes. I also feel that this visitor is linked to other humans too that it watches over. What do your readers think?

100 Brains Go Missing at University of Texas

The University of Texas at Austin has a macabre mystery on its hands: It's missing brains, about a hundred of them—potentially among them one belonging to clock tower sniper Charles Whitman. The brains were those of patients at the Austin State Hospital, formerly the Texas State Lunatic Asylum. They date back to the 1950s, and 28 years ago, after a battle with Harvard for them, they were handed to the university under a "temporary possession" agreement. Psychology professor Tim Schallert, the collection's co-curator, only had room in his lab for 100 of the specimens, which were kept in jars of formaldehyde. The rest were stored in the basement of the university's Animal Resources Center, reports the AP. Except they're no longer there. The university has vowed to investigate, and Schallert's co-curator speculates they may have been swiped by undergrads "for living rooms or Halloween pranks."

As part of the brain transfer, identifying information was removed; the Atlantic reports the jars bear an ID number, whatever disease or disorder the patient experienced (in Latin), and the date of death. But any corresponding state hospital records no longer exist. Still, NPR reports that the identity of one brain may be known: that of Whitman, who in 1966 went on a rampage from the observation deck of the University of Texas Tower; he ultimately killed 16 people before being shot and killed. Whitman left behind a note asking that his brain be left to science and examined by a pathologist. The pathologist who did so (and spotted a 5-centimeter-long tumor) was Coleman de Chenar, the doctor who originally amassed the collection. "It would make sense it would be in this group," says Schallert. "We can't find that brain." - Newser

Eaten Alive: Anaconda Man Explains Stunt

Naturalist Paul Rosolie has spoken out about what possessed him to undertake the dangerous stunt.

Rosolie, who last month revealed that he was going to be eaten alive by a large anaconda while wearing a special protective suit, has stated that he wanted to do something 'truly shocking' in an effort to draw attention to conservation efforts in the Amazon.

The stunt, which will be screened as part of the Discovery Channel documentary "Eaten Alive" on December 7th, saw him being swallowed up by a huge snake measuring 25ft in length.

"I wanted to make sure that the suit was smooth and wasn’t going to hurt the snake," he said. "I really wasn’t scared. We tested this suit and worked on it with experts so we knew I was going to be safe."

The stunt sparked a considerable backlash from animal rights activists who argued that the snake was being mistreated, however Rosolie has insisted that it had came to no harm during the exercise and that he had been more concerned about the snake's welfare than his own.

"What I’m trying to do with this is bring in a bunch of people that wouldn’t necessarily know what’s going on in the Amazon," he said. "For the type of attention that this is getting and for the type of emergency that’s going on down there - desperate times, desperate measures." - Yahoo

The Fake Cellphone Towers Are US Government Surveillance Tools

It isn’t the kind of cell tower you see rising from the ground. This one is part of a Marshall Service and Department of Justice program known as Spy in the Sky and is more of an antenna that’s installed onboard an airplane, like a Cessna. The technology is called a “dirtbox”. It flies around your neighborhood and continues across town. It appears innocent enough, but the truth is, this is a surveillance plane and it’s collecting all your cellphone data.

The purpose is to bypass the need to request data from cellphone providers. By eliminating the company cell towers with what is termed “man in the middle attack”, the government can collect all the data it desires without having to wait on a company to comply with its court order.

Past complaints from law enforcement is that this information is slow in being delivered and often inaccurate. By eliminating phone companies, US Marshals are able to locate and arrest known criminals. Read more at Top Secret Writers
