Just the Facts?: Alien Encounter in Pennsylvania -- Ancient Coins Could Rewrite History -- The Vanishers

Alien Encounter in Pennsylvania

Mount Troy, PA - 10/28/2010 - unedited: I am writing this report for my girlfriend, as she is nervous in wanting to tell this story. This event took place towards the end of October, 2010, in a duplex in the woods of Troy Hill, PA. My girlfriend recounts this as a "dream", but the way she tells it and remembers it so vividly scares me and I believe that this could have actually happened. She has never had any odd experiences in her life so for her to have this "dream" seems really strange. I, however have seen my fair share of strange things in the sky and fully believe in aliens and all of that. I convinced her to let me tell this event as it may have actually happened and I would like you guys to check it out, we are willing to discuss the event further and answer any questions you may have. Here it is. I am typing this as she speaks it from here on out.

I remember it being very early in the morning and I woke up to 5-6 beings in the room. There was a little one standing in front of my closet, 2 tall ones, 1 standing on each side of the little one, 1 to the left by the base of the bed, and 1 or 2 standing off to the right of our bed. The little one was staring at me, not making any sounds or gestures, but by the way he was I guessed that he might have been their leader. As he was looking at me the tall ones started moving around the room, at this point I tried to get up and couldnt move any portion of my body, and couldnt scream or do anything. We were sleeping on an air mattress, so we were only a foot of the floor. One of the talls came over and got behind my head and peered over me, looking down at me, then he walked away. Then him and one or two of the other talls went over to where my boyfriend was sleeping, at this point a bright shining light came through the window and was shining on the floor of the room, lighting up the entire room. As it got brighter, the little one and 2 of the talls moved towards the window and the light and I couldnt see them anymore, I lost sight of them. The rest of the remaining beings all converged on the light and window, and as they are getting close to the window my boyfriends body starts to levitate, lifting into the air. At this time Im not worrying about the beings as Im focusing on my boyfriend elevating into the air, I regain the ability to move and I start screaming and crying and I jump onto my b/fs body. I remember the impact of me landing on him lowered him out of the air a little bit but he continued to rise, Im still screaming and I lose sight of the rest of the beings. It gets super bright, and thats all I remember of the event until I wake up the next morning next to my boyfriend, unusually late. I remember waking up, sweating, and feeling very frightened and it being around noon. I felt like I woke up later than I usually did, and I was very groggy. My b/f also felt like he had slept for way longer than he did, and felt like we had both lost time. He had no memory of this as he stayed asleep the whole time during the event it.

Now she told me about this "dream" and thats when I told her about my experiences with seeing things in the sky. What scares me is that she can describe this story with amazing detail, and vividly remembers their faces and everything. We were living with her Mom and Step dad at the time and they were in the room next to us. If you guys would like feel free to contact us and wed be glad to answer any questions for you. MUFON CMS

Ancient coins could rewrite history

Five copper coins and a nearly 70-year-old map with an ‘‘X’’ might lead to a discovery that could rewrite Australia’s history.

Australian scientist Ian McIntosh, currently Professor of Anthropology at Indiana University in the US, plans an expedition in July that has stirred up the archaeological community.

The scientist wants to revisit the location where five coins were found in the Northern Territory in 1944 that have proven to be 1000 years old, opening up the possibility that seafarers from distant countries might have landed in Australia much earlier than what was currently believed.

Back in 1944 during World War II, after Japanese bombers had attacked Darwin two years earlier, the Wessel Islands — an uninhabited group of islands off Australia’s north coast — had become a strategic position to help protect the mainland.

Australian soldier Maurie Isenberg was stationed on one of the islands to man a radar station and spent his spare time fishing on the idyllic beaches.

While sitting in the sand with his fishing-rod, he discovered a handful of coins in the sand.

He didn’t have a clue where they could come from but pocketed them anyway and later placed them in a tin.

In 1979 he rediscovered his ‘‘treasure’’ and decided to send the coins to a museum to get them identified.

The coins proved to be 1000 years old.

Still not fully realising what treasure he held in his hands, he marked an old colleague’s map with an ‘‘X’’ to remember where he had found them.

The discovery was apparently forgotten again until anthropologist McIntosh got the ball rolling a few months ago.

The coins raise many important questions:

How did 1000-year-old coins end up on a remote beach on an island off the northern coast of Australia?

Did explorers from distant lands arrive on Australian shores way before the James Cook declared it ‘‘terra nullius’’ and claimed it for the British throne in 1770?

We do know already that Captain Cook wasn’t the first white seafarer to step on Australia’s shores.

In 1606 a Dutch explorer named Willem Janszoon reached the Cape York peninsula in Queensland, closely followed a few years late by another Dutch seafarer Dirk Hartog.

And the Spaniard Luiz Vaez de Torres discovered the strait between Papua New Guinea and Australia, which was later named Torres Strait in his honour.

However, none of these explorers recognised that they had discovered the famed southern continent, the ‘‘terra australis incognita‘‘, which was depicted as a counterweight to the known land masses of the northern hemisphere on many world maps of the day.

McIntosh and his team of Australian and American historians, archaeologists, geomorphologists and Aboriginal rangers say that the five coins date back to the 900s to 1300s.

They are African coins from the former Kilwa sultanate, now a World Heritage ruin on an island off Tanzania.

Kilwa once was a flourishing trade port with links to India in the 13th to 16th century.

The trade with gold, silver, pearls, perfumes, Arabian stoneware, Persian ceramics and Chinese porcelain made the city one of the most influential towns in East Africa at the time.

The copper coins were the first coins ever produced in sub-Saharan Africa and according to McIntosh have only twice been found outside Africa; once in Oman and Isenberg’s find in 1944.

The old coins might not be of monetary value, but for archaeologists they are priceless, said McIntosh.

Archaeologists have long suspected that there may have been early maritime trading routes that linked East Africa, Arabia, India and the Spice Islands even 1000 years ago.

Or the coins could’ve washed ashore after a shipwreck.

When Isenberg discovered the copper coins he also found four coins that originated from the Dutch East India Company — with one dating back to 1690 raising memories of those early Dutch seafarers that stepped on Australian shores well before Cook.

McIntosh wants to answer some of these mysteries during his planned expedition to the Wessel Islands in July.

And it’s not only about revisiting the beach that was marked with an ‘‘X’’ on Isenberg’s map.

He will also be looking for a secret cave Aboriginal legends talk about.

This cave is supposed to be close to the beach where Isenberg once found the coins and is said to be filled with doubloons and weaponry of an ancient era.

Should McIntosh and his team find what they are looking for, the find might not only be priceless treasure, but relics that could rewrite Australian history. - Stuff

The Vanishers: Buddy could you spare a dime?

New York Is Full Of Them, But What Are They?

Some true life experiences by: Posey Gilbert

One day as I was leaving Key Foods Supermarket burdened with two shopping bags I noticed an elderly woman talking to a truck driver waiting at a red light.
He handed her something.
The light changed and he pulled off from the old woman rather rudely, I thought, for she was in mid sentence when he did this.
I looked away for she was obviously embarrassed by the guy’s actions, but she'd caught me looking and now turned to walk toward me.
I stepped aside to let her pass, but she stopped and said, " Please I need some money to buy some bread, could you help me?"
Shame faced she opened her hand to show me the change in her palm.
She was about my mother's age
"What the hell are you doing out here begging for money this early in the morning?" I thought but did not say.
"Can't help you," I grunted and walked away from her although I did have some dollars crumpled in my hand.
I never handle my money in front of strangers even if my intent us to give them money so I walked a bit away from her.
Setting my bags down at the crossing light I separated some money from my change pushed the rest into my inner coat pocket, and called to her.
She came over and saying nothing I gave it to her and started across the street, as I reached the sidewalk something told me to look back at her.
She was just standing there looking blankly at me.
I started to walk and "it" said, "Now look at her."
I did, and she was gone.

Glowing green forest...Foxfire

There are certain times when the woods begin to glow. Sometimes they glow so much that people call the Park Service and ask them to send a hazmat team. What they're actually seeing is foxfire. And although we know how it happens, we don't know exactly why.

The picture above is a lovely example of one instance of the phenomenon known as foxfire. It's the jack-o-lantern mushroom, a cheery orange mushroom during the day, that goes ethereal around the gills at night. Taking a jack-o-lantern mushroom into a dark room and letting your eyes adjust and the delicate light from the underside of the mushroom gives you a beautiful look at the ruffled bottom of the canopy.

The picture to the left is also an image of foxfire, and you can see why it sometimes causes people to think they're at the origin site of the teenage mutant ninja turtles. Although it can be pretty, it's not symmetric, it's not readily identifiable, and it occasionally covers entire forest glades. Less overwhelming, but equally unsettling, it shows up in people's woodpiles. This is the work of the honey mushroom. The body of the mushroom is above ground, but its rootlike structures grow underground and up into rotting wood. On dark nights, it looks like the wood is glowing green.

The reaction is the result of a pigment, luciferin, and an enzyme, luciferase. Combine the two in the presence of oxygen and the luciferase obligingly glues two atoms of oxygen to the luciferin. The reaction produces energy, which is released as light. It's the same reaction that lights up the firefly. Unlike the firefly, the mushroom can't turn the process off and on at will, and so glows all the time. During the day or on bright nights, we already see so much light that we don't notice the dim glow of the foxfire.

Although the luciferin reaction is extraordinarily energy efficient, it has to cost the mushroom energy to dispense so much light. Why, then, do the mushrooms do it? No one quite knows. Some people think they serve as warning signals, the same way bright colors on a beetle warn off predators. Others think that they are actually meant to draw insects to the mushroom, which can help spread the mushroom's spores. - io9
