This week we welcome Brian Cano and Chris Mancuso From the paranormal investigation group 'SCARED!' and Syfy's 'Haunted Collector' to 'Beyond The Edge Radio'.
Brian Cano is the Tech Manager on the hit SyFy show, Haunted Collector. Best known for mixing old and new techniques of investigating, he often finds himself doing the physical tasks on the show, such as crawling under houses and up into attics. Ultimately, his goal is to quantify, measure and get empirical evidence to support the claims of paranormal activity reported while maintaining his skeptical edge.
As the resident parapsychologist of the SCARED! crew, he first recognized his desire to explore the unknown at a young age. Growing up on Staten Island, New York, Brian often took note of abandoned buildings recessed within the woods near his home during Sunday drives with his parents. They called to him, sparking his imagination and his curiosity. Alone or with friends, Brian began exploring the old and abandoned buildings, despite the countless rumors of what may have happened within their walls. Tall tales of Satanic activity, missing children or ghostly sightings were often told, but instead of deterring Brian from his new found hobby, this element of fear and danger only served to add to the allure for him. Since then, Brian has been looking into the darkness and exploring the dangers that come with the decay of civilization’s footprint. Expanding his experiences in urban exploration to include paranormal investigation, there are few places he will not go.
Since 2002 he’s been recording his adventures as one of the creators of SCARED!, a series of documentaries on paranormal investigation and urban exploration. Producer, graphic artist, editor, parapsychologist…in 2009 he added Internet Radio Host to his list of roles as he host of SCARED! on the Airwaves!, a weekly internet radio show which served as an official companion to the documentary series. The show is on indefinite hiatus, but he still appears as a guest on many internet radio shows, including a recent guest host spot on Unknown Origins Radio.
Brian has also appeared on the Travel Channel’s series, Most Terrifying Places as well as on the morning show, AM Arizona. Even when not a featured speaker, he manages to pop up on such shows as Celebrity Ghost Stories and the Sundance Channel’s Love/Lust: The Paranormal.
Brian’s work has been praised in several publications, including TAPS Paramagazine and Haunted Times Magazine. Various episodes of SCARED! have won awards at several film festivals.
Christopher Mancuso is a filmmaker and paranormal investigator from Staten Island, New York. Since 2002 he has served as the Lead Investigator for SCARED! an award winning series of paranormal investigation/urban exploration documentaries, which he produces, directs and edits with long-time friend, Brian J. Cano. Once a hardcore skeptic, his personal experiences in the paranormal field over the last few years have adjusted his viewpoint and transformed him to being what he considers a “skeptical believer”.
Outside of the paranormal, Chris is a fiction writer. He has written over a dozen screenplays. Several of his shorts have been produced by other local filmmakers and won awards, including Dylan’s Tree and Between Floors. His work as Co-Director on John Zaffis: The World Within documentary as well as the SCARED! series has earned him praise in TAPS Para-magazine and Haunted Times Magazine.
Chris has been a guest on the televised morning program AM Arizona and most recently he appeared on the Sundance Channel in the paranormal episode of Love/Lust. He has been a guest on Darkness Radio as well as numerous Internet radio shows. Chris lectures at various colleges, events and conventions around the country.
