Another Strange Encounter on the Ottawa River

There has been another strange encounter at the Ottawa River in or near Ottawa, Ontario. This time the report involves a possible interdimensional being. Since 1986 there have been numerous reports of UFOs, USOs, unusual creatures, unexplained anomalies, etc. in the general area of the river:

OTTAWA WITNESS REPORTS INTERDIMENSIONAL LIKE ENTITY

Security guards on the night shift get to see some strange things, both at work and on the way to work. One such odd sighting occurred in Ottawa, the nation’s capital late on October 22nd, between 10:30 and 11:00pm.

“On my way to work travelling southbound on the Champlain Bridge, I noticed something strange out of the corner of my eye.” The security guard’s testimony begins in the same way as many UFO accounts. Something out of the ordinary catches your eye, you look more closely, and there before you is a sight that is not easy to explain.

The guard made a report to MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, and went on to say, “A bright object in the sky was moving erratically in no general pattern. At first I thought of spot lights or that someone was shining a powerful flashlight.” These are always possible explanations put forward in UFO sightings, but the guard did not think that they were plausible on this occasion.

“It wasn’t until I stopped the car and tried to make a sketch of what I was seeing that I realized what I was looking at. It was the classic flying saucer shape, only upside down, with the dome part underneath.” The object was travelling east, keeping a steady altitude in the low clouds that were beginning to cover the sky over the west end of Ottawa. “It was almost as if the object was using these low lying clouds as cover,so as to remain undetected. If it wasn't for the fact that I happened to be staring right at it as I came over the bridge, I don’t think I would have never noticed it.”

The guard told MUFON that he watched the object for about 20 minutes, during which time it moved quickly, then slowly, changing its flying pattern frequently. Not that there really was a pattern: the craft darted here and there, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Eventually he had to go into work and his observations ended. “But,” he concluded, “It was very odd. I do believe science can explain almost everything. So, it takes a lot to convince me that something supernatural is happening. I keep an open mind, but this "UFO" experience was indeed an occurrence that I find hard to explain.”

OTTAWA RIVER CREATURE

Driving along the Ottawa River via boat, 3 friends and I see something in the water at around 10pm. This creature was large, created a medium sized wake, and swam fast. Very fast.. We were in a Seadoo boat and we could barley catch up going between 40-60km/h. It was a dark figure and when we cut it off, it went completely under water. I've been asking a lot of question to family and friends as to what this might be and the answers are sturgeon, bear, turtle, beaver.. I've researched all those answers and found out that NONE of them can swim that fast, and as for the sturgeon, this creature was NOT that skinny. It was round, just a bit smaller than a plastic kiddie pool. Ive never believed in this kind of fantasy stuff, but seriously that night has got me thinking....

WHAT CRASHED INTO THE OTTAWA RIVER?

Inquisitr.com - Dozens of residents of Canada’s capital city, Ottawa Ontario and nearby Gatineau, Que., witnessed an object streak across the night sky at about 10pm local time Monday night and crash into the Ottawa River with a “thunderous boom.”

The object had lights on it and appeared to change course several times, like a small plane struggling to stay airborn, before it hit the water.

It was such a sight that emergency rescue and search crews in the area sprung into action and began searching the area using sophisticated sonars and underwater cameras to try and figure out what the object was. Even helicopters from the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) in nearby Trenton took part. On Tuesday at 1:30pm, they discovered an object about 9 meters (30 feet) below the surface, but because of currents and nearby rapids, sending divers down would be extremely dangerous since they would be instantly swept away by the currents.

The mystery? Authorities and residents have no idea what this object laying at the bottom of the river is. There are no planes missing from the area, no other aircraft like helicopters, etc. are missing. There is no debris, no oil slick and even space agencies that were contacted said nothing disappeared from orbit.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ottawa police Const. Alain Boucher said of the object they found on the riverbed:

“The size and the shape doesn’t lead us to believe it’s any piece of an airplane or fuselage or anything like that. It could be a rock, it could be a bunch of logs stuck together, it’s hard to say. No one has come forward with any kind of videos or anything like that at this time. None of the people actually reported seeing a plane go down at the same time.”

But the fact still remains - something fell into the Ottawa River Monday night that prompted a massive co-ordinated search by local authorities and the Canadian Military. They found an object below the surface and don’t know exactly what it is.

It truly is a UFO mystery at this point.

ORIGINAL REPORT - WellandTribune.ca

It truly was an unidentified flying object that darted across the night sky over the Ottawa River this week.

“There's nothing in the river for us to find in terms of an airplane or helicopter or something that went down (Monday) night,” Ottawa police Const. Alain Boucher said Tuesday afternoon.

“We're still looking into what could have caused this. There's a number of reasons this could have happened. We'll be looking into that in the next couple of days.”

Several residents, both in Ottawa and in Gatineau, Que., reported lights smashing into the water around 10 p.m. Monday, along with a thunderous boom.

The calls prompted police, firefighters, paramedics and a helicopter from CFB Trenton to scour the waters for a downed aircraft.

Problem was, there was no physical evidence pointing to a plane wreck: No debris, no oil slick and no indication from airspace authorities that something fell off the radar. There was also no report of a missing aircraft.

Still, searchers launched their boats on Tuesday morning looking for clues that could confirm witness accounts.

They found a few objects in the water, but nothing significant until around 1:30 p.m., when sonar discovered something bulky more than nine metres below the surface.

An underwater camera couldn't reach it and searchers called off the mission not knowing exactly what the object was.

“The size and the shape doesn't lead us to believe it's any piece of an airplane or fuselage or anything like that,” Boucher said. “It could be a rock, it could be a bunch of logs stuck together, it's hard to say.”

“No one has come forward with any kind of videos or anything like that at this time,” Boucher said. “None of the people actually reported seeing a plane go down at the same time.”

NOTE: I don't know what to make of this story. I would tend to think it was a meteorite if not for the witness statements contradicting that theory. It'll be interesting to see what comes of this. The Canadian government and military are tight-lipped about these type of incidents for the most part...Lon

OTTAWA RIVER UFO ENCOUNTER

Written up on December 23, 2011

I have created Google Map Images of my location and UFO passage that are added below.

Ottawa, Canada UFO – Summer 1986

During the summer of 1986 when I was 24 years old, I was very fortunate to witness a high speed UFO travelling just above the Ottawa River at what I estimate to be 3,000 to 5,000 feet. This observation is based on aircraft normally flying at 20,000 to 30,000 feet.

The craft was a cigar shape. Tapered at both ends and thickening in the middle.

The width and thickness of the object observed from my distance was that of a Canadian dime. True length of object viewed from 1.7 miles is 30 meters to 40 meters.

Please note that the human eye has a natural zoom capability for distant objects of about 1,800x. This observation is based on my use of a modern 2011 Sony video camera with a 50x optical zoom and 1,800x digital zoom. Model DCR - SR20

Distance to object has been estimated at 1.7 to 2 miles using Google Earth, measuring from the top of the hill at the intersection at Duford Street and Jamison Avenue.

My viewing location for this event was at the top of the Queenswood Height's hill in Orleans located approximately 10 miles from Ottawa. Intersection at Duford Street and Jamison Avenue.

In 1986 there were no houses built on this hill giving a clear view of the Ottawa River and the Gatineau Valley 1.7 miles away.

Month of sighting is June 1986. Estimate

Viewing time was between 15:00hrs to 17:00hrs, broad daylight.

I had the UFO in sight for only 2 seconds.

Later on I would determine with Google Earth that the distance covered by the UFO during my observation time was 4 miles. This was possible because of my elevated position on Queenswood Heights Hill giving me a clear view of the Ottawa River and Gatineau Valley in the distance.

The UFO travelled rapidly over the Ottawa River moving in an East to West direction towards the city of Ottawa.

The UFO would be spotted by several students at Carleton University, reported to the Ottawa Citizen newspaper, and written up the next day in a small story.

The event happened on a Friday. Exact date unknown.

Technical details of the event.

Time in view 2 seconds.

Distance covered 4 miles.

Speed 4 miles per 2 seconds.

4 miles = 6437.376 metres

6437.376 m in 2 seconds

Speed of the UFO = 3,218.688 m /s

Speed of sound at sea level 340.29 m/s

Speed of the UFO = 9.45866 times the speed of sound

The UFO moved through the air in absolute complete silence.

There was no sonic boom associated with this high speed travelling object and I was completely surprised. I was listening for it intently.

This UFO therefore had the capability to move through a medium like air without displacing it.

Travelling at 9.45x the speed of sound the only way NOT to create a sonic boom is NOT to displace the medium of air in the first place.

Therefore UFO craft have an ability to move through a medium like air and water without displacing it. This means that there is NO friction with the medium allowing such fast velocities and changes in direction when required.

How this is accomplished is not known at this time.

Could a magnetic field enable an object to move through a medium without displacing it?

A engineering challenge for future aircraft designers.

The technology to move an object through a medium without displacing it exists.

I have seen it in 1986 and that was 25 years ago.

Just the Facts?: Superstorm...Rising Coffins and Skeletal Remains -- Flat-Earthers Still Exist

Superstorm: Water force coffins out of graves in Maryland

After having leveled huge swathes of New York City and the East Coast as it rampaged through the region on Monday night, superstorm Sandy inflicted a final indignity as it caused coffins to rise from their graves.

At one cemetery in Crisfield, Maryland, two caskets, one silver and the other bronze, rose up from the ground as the sheer force of the water unleashed by Sandy swelled the ground.

Powerful enough to dislodge the cement slabs that covered the graves, the sad sight indicated the indiscriminate bombardment that mother nature brought to reign over the U.S. Atlantic coastline.

The most devastating storm in decades to hit the country's most densely populated region upended man and nature as it rolled back the clock on 21st-century lives, cutting off modern communication and leaving millions without power as thousands who fled their water-damaged homes wondered when, and if, life would return to normal.

Superstorm Sandy killed at least 50 people, many hit by falling trees, and still wasn't finished. It inched inland across Pennsylvania, ready to bank toward western New York to dump more of its water and likely cause more havoc last night.

'Nature,' said New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, assessing the damage to his city, 'is an awful lot more powerful than we are.'

More than 8.2million households were without power in 17 states as far west as Michigan.

Nearly two million of those were in New York, where large swaths of lower Manhattan lost electricity and entire streets ended up underwater - as did seven subway tunnels between Manhattan and Brooklyn at one point.

The New York Stock Exchange was closed for a second day from weather, the first time that has happened since a blizzard in 1888.

The shutdown of mass transit crippled a city where more than 8.3million bus, subway and local rail trips are taken each day, and 800,000 vehicles cross bridges run by the transit agency.

Images from around the storm-affected areas depicted scenes reminiscent of big-budget disaster movies.

In Atlantic City, New Jersey, a gaping hole remained where once a stretch of boardwalk sat by the sea. In Queens, New York, rubble from a fire that destroyed as many as 100 houses in an evacuated beachfront neighborhood jutted into the air at ugly angles against a gray sky.

In heavily flooded Hoboken, New Jersey, across the Hudson River from Manhattan, dozens of yellow cabs sat parked in rows, submerged in murky water to their windshields. At the ground zero construction site in lower Manhattan, seawater rushed into a gaping hole under harsh floodlights.

One of the most dramatic tales came from lower Manhattan, where a failed backup generator forced New York University's Langone Medical Center to relocate more than 200 patients, including 20 babies from neonatal intensive care.

Dozens of ambulances lined up in the rainy night and the tiny patients were gingerly moved out, some attached to battery-powered respirators as gusts of wind blew their blankets.
Airports were shut across the East Coast and far beyond as tens of thousands of travelers found they couldn't get where they were going.

John F Kennedy International Airport in New York and Newark International Airport in New Jersey will reopen at 7am this morning with limited service, but LaGuardia Airport will stay closed, officials said.

Sandy began in the Atlantic and knocked around the Caribbean - killing nearly 70 people - and strengthened into a hurricane as it chugged across the southeastern coast of the United States.

By last night it had ebbed in strength but was joining up with another, more wintry storm - an expected confluence of weather systems that earned it nicknames like 'superstorm' and, on Halloween eve, 'Frankenstorm'.

Atlantic City's fabled Boardwalk, the first in the nation, lost several blocks when Sandy came through, though the majority of it remained intact even as other Jersey Shore boardwalks were dismantled.

What damage could be seen on the coastline Tuesday was, in some locations, staggering - 'unthinkable,' New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said of what unfolded along the Jersey Shore, where houses were swept from their foundations and amusement park rides were washed into the ocean. 'Beyond anything I thought I would ever see.' - DailyMail

Skeletal Remains Found in Tree Roots Upended by Hurricane

A homeless woman made a spooky Halloween’s eve discovery on the Upper Green: bones from a centuries-old human body unearthed by a giant oak tree toppled by Superstorm Sandy.

The woman, Katie Carbo, made the discovery around 3:15 p.m. near the corner of College and Chapel streets. Visible among the roots of the tree is the back of skull, upside down, with its mouth open (pictured). It is still connected to a spine and rib cage.

Carbo called police, who confirmed the discovery. Detectives headed to the scene to investigate.

Sgt. Anthony Zona said the police do not suspect foul play. He noted that that part of the Green long ago served as a burial ground.

“That body has probably been there a long, long time,” Zona said.

“Twenty-four years on the job,” he added, “and different things just happen all the time.” Continue reading / photos at New Haven Independent

Is paranormal activity on the increase? More ghost sightings reported to police

Ghosts are spooking the streets of South Wales, if reports to police are to be believed.

A list of supernatural sightings released by South Wales Police on the eve of Halloween reveal that hauntings are on the increase.

Those fearing visits from the afterlife may be concerned to learn that officers were called to five ghoulish incidents in the past 12 months, an increase of two from figures released the previous year.

Since 2007 there have been three reports made to police in Cardiff, four in Swansea, one in Bridgend and one in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Wayne Spurrier is the director of Haunted Happenings who run ghost hunting tours in Margam Park and Abergavenny’s Skirrid Inn.

He said: “South Wales is very haunted. We have experienced activity whenever we have held events in Wales.

“I guess people have to be fairly frightened to call the police but in our experience nobody has ever been hurt by a ghost.

“I explain the presence of a ghost as a repeat of something that happened in the past, an event or movement that is being repeated, that hasn’t gone away.

“Somebody might see a soldier on horseback wielding a sword coming towards them, but they are not in danger, it is just an image of something that happened in that spot many years earlier.”

Wayne added: “We also hear from people who have maybe seen someone lying injured on the side of the road, but when they’ve approached them the person has disappeared.

“Something like that could easily trigger a concerned member of the public to call the police.”

Exorcising demons from possessed souls and removing poltergeists from Welsh homes are two of the more unusual jobs taken on by the Bishop of Monmouth.

Bishop Dominic Walker, is a trained exorcist and said clergy across his diocese deal with two or three cases of “property possession” at any one time.

He said: “When people turn to us for help they’re normally fairly desperate.

“We get people saying ‘we’ve got a ghost, we’ve got poltergeist activity, I feel there’s a presence in my house which I don’t like’ and people get very disturbed.”

Last year South Wales Police revealed the force had received three reports of zombies and two of werewolves being spotted in neighbourhoods. There were also two sightings of vampires and six sightings of witches.

Speaking at the time, Superintendent Tony Smith said: “South Wales Police does get the odd weird and wonderful call, but residents and visitors needn’t worry about a supernatural invasion just yet. At the moment, we’re still in the business of keeping South Wales safe from crime rather than zombies or werewolves.” - Wales Online

Flat-Earthers still exist

Members of the Flat Earth Society claim to believe the Earth is flat. Walking around on the planet's surface, it looks and feels flat, so they deem all evidence to the contrary, such as satellite photos of Earth as a sphere, to be fabrications of a "round Earth conspiracy" orchestrated by NASA and other government agencies.

The belief that the Earth is flat has been described as the ultimate conspiracy theory. According to the Flat Earth Society's leadership, its ranks have grown by 200 people (mostly Americans and Britons) per year since 2009. Judging by the exhaustive effort flat-earthers have invested in fleshing out the theory on their website, as well as the staunch defenses of their views they offer in media interviews and on Twitter, it would seem that these people genuinely believe the Earth is flat.
But in the 21st century, can they be serious? And if so, how is this psychologically possible?

Through a flat-earther's eyes

First, a brief tour of the worldview of a flat-earther: While writing off buckets of concrete evidence that Earth is spherical, they readily accept a laundry list of propositions that some would call ludicrous. The leading flat-earther theory holds that Earth is a disc with the Arctic Circle in the center and Antarctica, a 150-foot-tall wall of ice, around the rim. NASA employees, they say, guard this ice wall to prevent people from climbing over and falling off the disc. Earth's day and night cycle is explained by positing that the sun and moon are spheres measuring 32 miles (51 kilometers) that move in circles 3,000 miles (4,828 km) above the plane of the Earth. (Stars, they say, move in a plane 3,100 miles up.) Like spotlights, these celestial spheres illuminate different portions of the planet in a 24-hour cycle. Flat-earthers believe there must also be an invisible "antimoon" that obscures the moon during lunar eclipses.

Furthermore, Earth's gravity is an illusion, they say. Objects do not accelerate downward; instead, the disc of Earth accelerates upward at 32 feet per second squared (9.8 meters per second squared), driven up by a mysterious force called dark energy. Currently, there is disagreement among flat-earthers about whether or not Einstein's theory of relativity permits Earth to accelerate upward indefinitely without the planet eventually surpassing the speed of light. (Einstein's laws apparently still hold in this alternate version of reality.)

As for what lies underneath the disc of Earth, this is unknown, but most flat-earthers believe it is composed of "rocks."

Then, there's the conspiracy theory: Flat-earthers believe photos of the globe are photoshopped; GPS devices are rigged to make airplane pilots think they are flying in straight lines around a sphere when they are actually flying in circles above a disc. The motive for world governments' concealment of the true shape of the Earth has not been ascertained, but flat-earthers believe it is probably financial. "In a nutshell, it would logically cost much less to fake a space program than to actually have one, so those in on the Conspiracy profit from the funding NASA and other space agencies receive from the government," the flat-earther website's FAQ page explains.

It's no joke

The theory follows from a mode of thought called the "Zetetic Method," an alternative to the scientific method, developed by a 19th-century flat-earther, in which sensory observations reign supreme. "Broadly, the method places a lot of emphasis on reconciling empiricism and rationalism, and making logical deductions based on empirical data," Flat Earth Society vice president Michael Wilmore, an Irishman, told Life's Little Mysteries. In Zetetic astronomy, the perception that Earth is flat leads to the deduction that it must actually be flat; the antimoon, NASA conspiracy and all the rest of it are just rationalizations for how that might work in practice.
Those details make the flat-earthers' theory so elaborately absurd it sounds like a joke, but many of its supporters genuinely consider it a more plausible model of astronomy than the one found in textbooks. In short, they aren't kidding.

"The question of belief and sincerity is one that comes up a lot," Wilmore said. "If I had to guess, I would probably say that at least some of our members see the Flat Earth Society and Flat Earth Theory as a kind of epistemological exercise, whether as a critique of the scientific method or as a kind of 'solipsism for beginners.' There are also probably some who thought the certificate would be kind of funny to have on their wall. That being said, I know many members personally, and I am fully convinced of their belief."

Wilmore counts himself among the true believers. "My own convictions are a result of philosophical introspection and a considerable body of data that I have personally observed, and which I am still compiling,” he said.

Strangely, Wilmore and the society's president, a 35-year-old Virginia-born Londoner named Daniel Shenton, both think the evidence for global warming is strong, despite much of this evidence coming from satellite data gathered by NASA, the kingpin of the "round Earth conspiracy." They also accept evolution and most other mainstream tenets of science.

Conspiracy theory psychology

As inconceivable as their belief system seems, it doesn't really surprise experts. Karen Douglas, a psychologist at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom who studies the psychology of conspiracy theories, says flat-earthers' beliefs cohere with those of other conspiracy theorists she has studied.

"It seems to me that these people do generally believe that the Earth is flat. I'm not seeing anything that sounds as if they're just putting that idea out there for any other reason," Douglas told Life's Little Mysteries.

She said all conspiracy theories share a basic thrust: They present an alternative theory about an important issue or event, and construct an (often) vague explanation for why someone is covering up that "true" version of events. "One of the major points of appeal is that they explain a big event but often without going into details," she said. "A lot of the power lies in the fact that they are vague."

The self-assured way in which conspiracy theorists stick to their story imbues that story with special appeal. After all, flat-earthers are more adamant that the Earth is flat than most people are that the Earth is round (probably because the rest of us feel we have nothing to prove). "If you're faced with a minority viewpoint that is put forth in an intelligent, seemingly well-informed way, and when the proponents don't deviate from these strong opinions they have, they can be very influential. We call that minority influence," Douglas said.

In a recent study, Eric Oliver and Tom Wood, political scientists at the University of Chicago, found that about half of Americans endorse at least one conspiracy theory, from the notion that 9/11 was an inside job to the JFK conspiracy. "Many people are willing to believe many ideas that are directly in contradiction to a dominant cultural narrative," Oliver told Life's Little Mysteries. He says conspiratorial belief stems from a human tendency to perceive unseen forces at work, known as magical thinking.

However, flat-earthers don't fit entirely snugly in this general picture. Most conspiracy theorists adopt many fringe theories, even ones that contradict each other. Meanwhile, flat-earthers' only hang-up is the shape of the Earth. "If they were like other conspiracy theorists, they should be exhibiting a tendency toward a lot of magical thinking, such as believing in UFOs, ESP, ghosts, the Devil, or other unseen, intentional forces," Oliver wrote in an email. "It doesn't sound like they do, which makes them very anomalous relative to most Americans who believe in conspiracy theories." - Yahoo

Readers' Paranormal Experiences

For the most part, I think that actual paranormal experiences convey a higher degree of fear and foreboding as compared to the standard ghost stories that are told with limited modification...except for the time and location. Over the years, I have received many interesting narratives from readers. Here are a few random offerings for this Halloween season:

GLARING SPIRITS

We were at the cemetery for the burial of my sister's mother-in-law. It was a cold winter day & I decided to wait in the car with my elderly mother while my niece and sister proceeded to the burial site where she would be interned.

A few minutes after they had left the vehicle, I noticed 3 apparitions pass in front of the car from left to right. It was like watching a movie. Each apparition stopped & glared at me for a moment before filing past.

The apparition I remember the most was that of a old man with a young girl maybe 2 or 3 years old. I could see them only from the waist up. Their clothing was from another period in time. I got the impression that she was sitting on his lap.

The other apparition was another old man who gave me a long, evil stare as he passed by the front of the car.

It took me awhile to figure out, but I really do believe that these spirits I saw were going to the gravesite to see the new person being buried.

Till this day I have never gone to that cemetery alone.

'FLYING' APPARITION

I've been trying to research my incident online and have come up with zero references for so perhaps some of your readers may have insight into it.

The other night, my son and I were on the couch in our apartment watching TV. All of the lights were off. Suddenly we both jumped at the same time as we saw a strange apparition fly by our balcony. We're on the third floor so not too high up and the door and curtains were open giving us a clear view to the outside. What we saw was large and judging from the distance between our building and the neighboring building which is approximately 60-70 ft away, it was halfway between the two.

It was a whitish, slightly opaque-like amorphous blob about 10ft by 15ft across. It moved as though it was like a cloud or a mist being blown in a very brisk wind, changing shape constantly. There was no noise aside from the usual street noises.

However, if it were that windy, a mist or cloud wouldn't retain its shape for that long. We saw it pass our balcony and then the further window in a straight line as though traveling toward some goal in the distance. The way it moved indicated that it was purposeful as though in a breeze yet the weird thing is there was no breeze at all. I went out later to test if there was wind and its speed and direction and noted that a very slight air movement was coming out of the north to the south and that thing was traveling in the opposite direction from the south to the north.

We both looked at each other afterward in amazement and said at the same time, "did you just see that? and Yes! What was that thing?!" We exchanged our brief descriptions of what we had both seen and tentatively looked out the balcony door to see if we could see it...but it was gone.

A side note...if it had been any sort of material traveling in a freak wind at that moment its direction, speed and height from the ground would have brought it directly into a grove of trees at the edge of the property where it would have been tangled in the branches or fallen to the ground in a parking lot and swept to the edges of the property into a chain link fence. Further searches of these areas have yielded nothing that would fit the description of this thing.

If anyone out there has seen or heard of such a thing I would sure love to know about your experiences or thoughts. Thanks kindly, Pema

BUSY HOUSE

On or about June of 2008, I was sitting in my living room watching TV at approx. 2:00pm, when a young blond haired boy burst through the wall next to my fireplace, and as he stared right straight at me, ran through the living room and disappeared into the dining room. I immediately froze from shock and surprise. Then after a moment gathered myself and ran after him. But he had disappeared. When I mentioned something about it to a neighbor, he said that it must be Josh. Josh lived in our home in the 1980s, and was hit and killed by a car one block away. This is but one of many events that occur in our home.

My husband has witnessed two men come down our hallway in the middle of the night and turn into the spare bedroom only to disappear.

Back in June 2009, as I again sat watching TV at about 10:30pm, the vertical blinds on the window behind me suddenly blew out from the bottom like a great wind had blown them. Not thinking that I had already closed the windows for the night, I went to close the window and found that it was already closed, but that it was perfectly calm outside. I immediately went to bed as I was pretty freaked out.

As I was again preoccupied watching the tube, something caught my eye in the hallway. You know how when you're in a darkened room, and someone opens the door from a brightly lit area you see the light around the edges of the doorway? Well I saw that same thing, only the doorway was opening in the middle of the hall. I have no idea what it was.

We have lived in our home for 6 yrs. and have experienced something odd at least once weekly. We don't feel these spirits are harmful and have grown used to such things. Unfortunately not all of our guests feel the same. Mickey

THE FLOATING WOMAN

About 12 years ago, before my stroke in October, 2004, my wife and I were driving from Florida to Leesburg, Virginia, to visit our daughter and son-in-law. We arrived in mid-afternoon while they were at work. Because their house had an alarm we decided to wait around outside until they came home. To kill time, we decided to make a visit to the nearest cemetery and just look at headstones. We are greatly interested in genealogy and just wanted to look around.

We were in the car and drove up a small rise in the road. We were moving very slow. All of a sudden there appeared a lady in a high necked white dress on our right. She seemed to float instead of walking. We came to a quick stop for fear of hitting her. I got out of the car to see if she needed any help. She did not answer me or appear to even see me. She moved across the road to the berm on the other side. THEN SHE DISAPPEARED. Just like that, vanished!!! All of a sudden I was alone on the road. My wife saw her too. THE NEXT DAY I WENT BACK TO THE CEMETERY AND TOLD THE CARETAKERS WHAT WE HAD SEEN. One man GOT UP FROM HIS CHAIR AND RAPIDLY LEFT THE ROOM. Another man remarked that several people have reported the apparition over the years. They had no idea who she was or what she was looking for. The Cemetery is the Union Cemetery in Leesburg, Va. It is not a UNION SOLDIER CEMETERY, THAT IS JUST THE NAME OF IT. They gave me 2 books that list everybody in the graves. I did not believe in ghosts until that time. I do now!! Chet.

'BOYS!'

We have experienced several different strange things in our house. The house isn't scary. It was built in 1963 by my wife's grandparents. In the first event, my wife took a picture of my step daughter in the living room and two light anomalies appeared in the picture. One had a palm of a hand in it. The other had the face of my wife's grandmother and great grandmother in it. There were also reflections in the back door window of her grandfather in one pane and 2 Yorkie dogs in another. Her Grandparents had Yorkies. Getting that picture enlarged to investigate further, my wife was standing in a line at a copier place, and guy working there asked why she needed that picture enlarged. She explained what the picture contained and the guy behind her in line took two steps backwards and turned and left after she gave him a look at the picture.

Two or three time we had the roll of toilet paper come completely unrolled in the front hall bathroom. I watched it happen one time. At times we hear loud bangs as if something had fallen but, I go to find out what had fallen and there's nothing there to make the noise.

One time we were watching TV on the living room sectional and one of the pillows started moving as if the cat was behind it. We watched it move a couple more times, thinking the cat would come out from behind it. I got up and moved the pillow and there was no reason for the pillow to move.

One evening, I was sitting in my recliner. My wife was on the sectional closest to me and my step daughter was laying on the other end of the sectional. My grand daughter was sitting on the coffee table when, between my wife and daughter, a voice whispered loudly "boys". Everyone heard it but, there was no possible explanation for the voice.

I would say that every day I will see something out of the corner of my eye and I turn to look but, no one or thing is there. We aren't afraid of this house because, the only people that have lived there was my wife's family. I understand that objects can have spirits attached to them. We do have several antiques that we have acquired over the years. Maybe something I've brought there had someone following along with it. We never know what will happen next. OKC

U-N-D-R B-R-I-D-G

This is a response to your article about Ouija boards. I thought I would tell you about an experience my sister had many years ago.

She was around 15 or so and was at a friend's house for a sleepover. Her and a few other friends decided to play with a Ouija board in their garage. Her friend's mother was at work and her father was in bed, so they had no supervision. While playing with the board they asked if anyone who wanted to speak to them. They got a YES, they asked for a name. They got M-O-M, they asked for a message. They got U-N-D-R B-R-I-D-G. They did not understand the message at the time.

Later, after they had gone on to bed, there was a knock at the front door. It was the local sheriff who had come to the house to tell the girl's father that his wife had been killed in a car accident on her way home from work that night. Her car was found submerged in water under a bridge just a few miles from their home.

To this day, my sister will not go near or even discuss the subject of Ouija boards.

Just the Facts?: 'Our Baby's the Devil...' -- Sasquatch in Siberia? -- You've Been Trumped...Donald

'Our Baby's the Devil', say Colombian parents whose child can 'walk at four weeks and breathes fire'

Black magic and evil spirits have captured the soul of a new-born baby in Colombia who can apparently already walk by himself and produce fire, his own mother has claimed.

Ana Feria Santos gave birth to her son last month but says her joy quickly turned to fear when she noticed that he had 'several abnormalities' - leading to fears in her community that he is the 'devil in disguise'.

She says the boy can already stand up and walk - quite a feat for a child of just four weeks.

Much like the 1976 horror film The Omen, the mother-of-five says he frequently hides around the house, cackles in an 'adult' way for hours on end and has an 'intimidating' pair of eyes.

She told the RCN Radio station: 'He walks like an adult, sometimes going off and hiding underneath the bed, in a suitcase, in the washing machine or in the fridge.'

Her neighbours in the town of Lorica, near the Caribbean coast, also say he is possessed by a 'malign spirit' and that he is capable of producing fire.

This, they say, is because burn marks have been found on his clothes and a sofa where he regularly sits.

It has led to vigilante attacks on Santos and her taxi-driver husband Óscar Palencia López's house, which is allegedly being pelted with stones on a nightly-basis by frightened residents.

But the 28-year-old's story has not been believed by doctors, who have now launched an investigation into the possibility that the new-born could have been abused.

The Colombian Family Welfare Institute, the National Police and the Catholic Church have also all refused to assert the claims that black magic is involved.

A team of psychologists, a social worker, a nutritionist and a lawyer will now look into the case, with a source saying: 'The child shows signs of abuse.

'Two small burns were found on the palm of the left hand and for that reason a restoration measure was adopted to [safeguard] the family environment.

'The parents received a warning while the facts are being clarified.' - Daily Mail

Sasquatch in Siberia? Hair found in Russian cave 'belonged to unknown mammal closely related to man'

Astonishing claims were made in Russia today that DNA tests on suspected 'Yeti hair' reveals the existence of 'an unknown mammal closely related to man'.

The 'tests' were conducted on samples of hair found in a Siberian cave during an international expedition last year.

'We had ten samples of hair to study, and have concluded that they belong to mammal, but not a human,' said Professor Valentin Sapunov, of the Russian State Hydrometeorological Institute.

Nor did the hair belong to any known animal from the region such as a bear, wolf, or goat, he claimed.

Analysis was conducted in the Russia and US and 'agreed the hair came from a human-like creature which is not a Homo sapien yet is more closely related to man than a monkey', said the Siberian Times, citing claims made on a regional government website in Russia in the area where the hair samples were allegedly found.

It stated that long-awaited scientific tests were conducted on their hair at two institutions in Russia and one in Idaho in the US.

'All three world level universities have finished DNA analysis of the hair and said that the hair belongs to a creature which is closer by its biological parameters to Homo sapiens than a monkey. The Yeti's DNA is evidently less than one per cent different to that of a human.'

The tests were undertaken on hair found one year ago in the Azasskaya Cave in the Mourt Shoriya area of Kemerovo region in Siberia, it was alleged.

The 2011 expedition to the remote cave complex in Kemerovo when the alleged Yeti hair was found was led by Dr Igor Birtsev, seen as Russia's leading advocate of the existence of the abominable snowman.

He last night questioned the conclusions saying he was seeking more information about the alleged tests.

The Siberian Times said only 'scant' details were made available of the 'DNA findings'.

Sapunov claimed that the prestigious Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences was involved in the tests.

Yeti 'sightings' have been reported for centuries in most continents but the creature has evaded capture and no remains have ever been discovered.

Several 'sightings' of yetis have been made recently according to a Russian official and fishermen in Siberia.

'We shouted to them - do you need help?,' said fisherman Vitaly Vershinin.

'They just rushed away, all in fur, walking on two legs, making their way through the bushes and with two other limbs, straight up the hill.'

He continued: 'What did we think? It could not be bears, as the bear walks on all-fours, and they ran on two.... so then they were gone.'

Russia's leading researcher on yetis, Igor Burtsev claims around 30 of the 'abominable snowmen' live in the Kemerovo region, where these sightings were. - Daily Mail

NOTE: Until these samples are tested independent of the Russian government, I'm simply going to take the findings under advisement. Much of the information coming from the Urals and Siberian are just not credible IMO...Lon

You've Been Trumped...Donald

Donald Trump tried to force the BBC to drop the broadcast of a critically acclaimed documentary on his alleged bullying of residents near his Scottish golf resort.

Lawyers for the New York property magnate contacted the BBC two days before the feature-length film You've Been Trumped was screened on BBC2 on Sunday night, claiming it was highly defamatory, biased and misleading, and demanding a right of reply.

In a letter to the BBC from Dundas & Wilson, a prominent Scottish law firm which has acted for Trump for several years, and seen by the Guardian, the Trump organisation threatened to complain formally to Ofcom and the BBC Trust if the screening went ahead.

The BBC rejected the request and gave the documentary, directed by Anthony Baxter, its network television premiere. It was watched by an estimated 1.1 million viewers, about 40% higher than average figures for the last three months, and earned praise from reviewers, trending on Twitter. The film will be screened again on BBC2 on Tuesday night.

Trump's organisation retaliated saying it was appalled by the BBC's decision to show the "highly biased and manipulative so-called documentary".

George Sorial, Trump's chief counsel, said the trust should sack Roger Mosey, the acting director of BBC Vision.

"The BBC is now an active participant in what many who are familiar with Baxter's work know is a complete false telling of the story behind the construction of Trump Golf Scotland," Sorial told the Guardian. "I would say Roger Mosey should certainly resign or the BBC should consider firing him.

"We're filing complaints with Ofcom and the BBC Trust and are considering other available legal actions."

Sarah Malone, the executive vice-president of Trump International Golf Links, who featured in the film, said: "We totally denounce the BBC for further abandoning its own editorial integrity by blatantly refusing us a right of reply at the end of the broadcast last night.

"It just goes to show that recent criticism of the BBC's lack of sound editorial judgment to be correct. It is not a documentary – it is a piece of propaganda that is wildly inaccurate, defamatory and deliberately misleading."

She said Baxter had sought to make "a sensationalist, Local Hero story, through underhand, clandestine means, in the hope of making money off the Trump name. He's created a modern day fairytale that bears no resemblance to reality or the truth."

In a short statement, the BBC defended its decision. "You've Been Trumped is an award-winning film that has been screened at international festivals around the world," it said.

"During the making of the film, Donald Trump declined the opportunity to take part. We are confident that Donald Trump was offered sufficient right to reply in accordance with BBC editorial guidelines. Donald Trump chose not to participate but the film-maker took care to reflect his views on a number of different occasions in the film.

"In addition, Donald Trump was offered the chance to be interviewed live on the BBC following the BBC2 broadcast. He has not taken up our invitation."

Trump has refused to see the film but on Twitter last week he described his critics as "morons". He asserted that Baxter had "zero talent" and was a "stupid fool" whose film had helped publicise and promote his golf course at Menie, north of Aberdeen.

Baxter said he repeatedly asked Trump for an interview while he was making the documentary but none of the offers were taken up.

The film showed Baxter asking Trump to respond to allegations of bullying and ill-treatment against local residents a number of times. It featured Trump talking 16 times and quoted his supporters backing the project.

Baxter said: "At one press conference, Donald Trump claimed I wasn't a real journalist, and at one stage his organisation put out statements claiming I was working for the [protest group] Tripping Up Trump, and I was actually banned from some press events. The opening of the golf course, I was banned from attending. They claimed I had been hiding behind bushes and heavy machinery, and filmed secret documents – all of which is utter nonsense."

The film, released in May 2011, has won 10 awards from film festivals and environmental documentary organisations and earned four-star reviews in the British media. The Edinburgh international film festival refused to screen it, claiming it was not of sufficient quality.

It has since been acclaimed by Michael Moore, the radical US film-maker, actors including Alec Baldwin, and lately the Scottish film-maker Bill Forsyth, director of the cult classic Local Hero cited by Malone.

In an article for the Guardian, Forsyth said he had been left "dazed and shocked" after seeing the documentary in early September. Denouncing the "malign bullying" of local residents shown in the film, Forsyth said it was "a moving depiction of human survival and dignity amidst murky doings akin to 70s Romania". - Guardian

Sacrificial ram butts owner to death

An Algerian man bought a big ram to sacrifice it on Eid Al Adha. Instead, the ram sacrificed the man when he butted him to death.

After performing the Eid dawn prayers in the northeastern port of Annaba, the man went back home, got a big knife and prepared the ram for slaughter.

“As he prepared it for sacrifice, the ram surprisingly butted the man, who fell on the ground and died minutes later,” the Algerian Khabar newspaper said. - Emirates24

Monsters Of Our Species 5: Juvenile Killers

There have been murderers throughout human history...many are easily recognized by their name or moniker. In this fifth installment, I have posted information on a few juvenile human monsters who may not be easily recognized:

JOSHUA PHILLIPS

It was November 3rd, 1998, when 8-year-old Maddie Clifton went missing in Jacksonville, Florida. When she was reported missing, police began searching for her, and they started interviewing the neighbours. Almost immediately, they had a neighbour in mind as a suspect. That neighbour had been arrested and charged more than 15 years earlier in two sexual battery cases; though both times the charges against him were dropped.

As it turned out, their suspect was the wrong man, but her murderer was indeed a neighbour. Hundreds of people would volunteer in the search for Maddie, scouring the woods and dumpsters around the neighbourhood. The search for Maddie would end a week after she first disappeared, but it wasn't searchers who found her body. It was Melissa Phillips, 14-year-old Joshua Phillips mother, who found her. Thinking that her son's waterbed appeared to be leaking, she went to inspect it, and found Maddie Clifton's corpse hidden underneath. She ran out the house, and immediately went to the police.

Joshua Earl Patrick Phillips, at age 15, was charged with first degree murder in the death of his 8-year-old neighbour and playmate, Madelyn Clifton. He was charged as an adult.

His trial was moved to a different county due to the flood on media coverage in the Jacksonville area. He was convicted of the first degree murder, and sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole. He was not eligible for the death penalty in Florida, because he was under the age of 16 at the time of the crime.

BRENDA ANN SPENCER

On 29 January 1979, 16-year-old Brenda Ann Spencer opened fire on children arriving at Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego from her house across the street, killing two men and wounding eight students and a police officer. Principal Burton Wragg was attempting to rescue children in the line of fire when he was shot and killed, and custodian Mike Suchar was slain attempting to aid Wragg.Spencer used a rifle her father had given her as a gift. As to what impelled her into this form of murderous madness, she told a reporter, ”I don’t like Mondays. This livens up the day.”
The “Mondays” comment was not the only eyebrow-raising declaration to issue from Spencer that day. According to a report written by the police negotiators who spoke with her during the six-hour standoff, she made such comments to them as ”There was no reason for it, and it was just a lot of fun”; ”It was just like shooting ducks in a pond”; and ”[the children ] looked like a herd of cows standing around, it was really easy pickings.”

That Spencer failed to kill any of the children she shot at was attributable to luck rather than any reluctance on her part to take their lives. The bullet that struck 9-year-old Charles “Cam” Miller missed his heart by about an inch.

Spencer pled guilty to two counts of murder and assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. At her first parole hearing she expressed doubt that any of the victims were hit by bullets from her rifle and contended they might have been shot by police. She also claimed to have been under the influence of alcohol and hallucinogenic drugs at the time of the shootings and asserted prosecutors and her attorney had conspired to fabricate test evidence showing there had been no drugs in her system. By her third parole hearing she was admitting guilt and expressing remorse but was still contending she had been drunk and high on marijuana laced with PCP the day of her deadly rampage. She also claimed something new, that she had been beaten and sexually abused by her father, an avowal conspicuously absent from previous records.

Those who continue to be troubled by the callousness of Brenda Spencer’s crime and concerned by her continued attempts to shift blame for her actions onto anyone or anything else can draw comfort from the knowledge that murderers are rarely granted parole in California.

JESSE POMEROY

Young Jesse Pomeroy grew up in one of the worst slums of South Boston in the late 1800's. By the time he turned 14 years of age, he was convicted of numerous murders, and was one of the worst multiple killers in the country's history, sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Brought up by his widowed mother, a dressmaker, Pomeroy was not an easy child to miss in the area. He had a harelip and one of his eyes was completely white. And, according to one source, he also suffered from light mental retardation.

Not much is known of his early childhood, but by the time he reached 11 years of age, he began torturing other young children.

In the two years of 1871 and 1872, Pomeroy trapped and attacked seven boys, all younger than himself. In each case he took each one to a secluded space where he stripped the victim and tied him up.

The first victims were severely beaten, punched and kicked until covered with bruises. However, Pomeroy then began utilizing his knife in the attacks, slashing and poking with the blade, drawing blood as his victim was tied down.

Because of his appearance, it wasn't long before the police got an idea about who the culprit was, and they proceeded to arrest the twelve year old where he was sentenced to the West Borough Reform School where he was to be held until the age of 21.

Instead of the nine year sentence however, Pomeroy was let go after just two years. While serving his term, he stayed on his best behavior and led the ward officials into thinking that he was indeed reformed. He understood very well what he had to do to get out of there as soon as possible, and he made sure he stuck to his plan. This is a great example of how the idea of "revolving door" imprisonment has been around a lot longer than people believe.

When Jesse was released, he was far from "well". As a matter of fact, Pomeroy was now ready to take his crimes to a new level. He was ready for homicide.

In March of 1874, ten year old Mary Curran disappeared, her body found mutilated and savagely beaten. A month later four year old Horace Mullen was taken by Pomeroy to marshland outside of town, where the child was slashed repeatedly. Police found the body, with the head almost decapitated, the next day.

Police began investigating the murder, and quickly saw Pomeroy as a potential suspect. When they approached the young boy, they found him carrying a bloodstained knife. They also noted that his shoes were covered in mud, and his footprints matched those of the murder scene. When they asked him if he killed the boy, Jesse replied almost matter of factly, "I suppose I did."

When Pomeroy's mother moved out of her house soon after, laborers working on the flooring found the decomposing remains of Mary Curran buried in the basement's earthen floor. Pomeroy easily confessed to that murder as well.

As if that wasn't enough for the police, Pomeroy then confessed to the murder of 27 other victims. When officers began to dig around the home where he grew up, they discovered the remains of twelve other bodies.

Found guilty of murder, Pomeroy was sentenced to spend the rest of his days in prison, where he languished in solitary confinement until he died in 1932 at the ripe old age of 72.

ERIC SMITH

Eric M. Smith (born January 22, 1980) is an American criminal, incarcerated for the murder, sexual abuse and mutilation of four-year-old Derrick Robie (born October 2, 1988) on August 2, 1993, in Steuben County, New York.

According to court documents, Smith, a loner, was often tormented by bullies for his protruding low-set ears, thick glasses, red hair and freckles. The murder case made national headlines, largely due to the young ages of the killer (13 years) and of the victim (4 years).

Smith attracted Robie to a remote location in a park. There Smith strangled Robie, dropped a pair of large rocks on the boy’s head, undressed his body, and sodomized him with a tree limb. The cause of death was determined to be blunt trauma to the head with contributing asphyxia.

Two days after Robie's funeral, Smith admitted to Robie's killing. In 1994 Smith was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to the maximum term then available for juvenile murderers — a minimum of nine years to life in prison.

While in jail, Smith wrote an apology letter to Robie's family; he read it on public television: "I know my actions have caused a terrible loss in the Robie family, and for that, I am truly sorry. I've tried to think as much as possible about what Derrick will never experience: his 16th birthday, Christmas, anytime, owning his own house, graduating, going to college, getting married, his first child. If I could go back in time, I would switch places with Derrick and endure all the pain I've caused him. If it meant that he would go on living, I'd switch places, but I can't." At the end of this statement, Smith states that he cannot bear the thought of "walls, razor wire, and steel metal bars" for the rest of his life.

Smith has been denied parole five times since 2002, most recently in April 2010. He was next eligible for parole in April 2012. If granted parole, Smith stated an intent to return to Savona. He was held in a juvenile facility for six years. In 2001, he was transferred to the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York, a maximum security prison. As of October 23, 2012, the NYS Dep't of Corrections website shows him incarcerated at Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility, a medium security prison for male inmates in Saratoga County, New York, USA.

Just the Facts?: Was Hurricane Sandy Influenced By HAARP? -- BTE Spooktacular -- North Korean Minister 'Obliterated'

Is HAARP responsible for Hurricane Sandy's assault on the East Coast?

An independent website that has a real-time sensor network from over 28 sensors placed in rural areas across the United States has recorded the strongest HAARP readings in the projects history.

The readings, in and around the New England area, are literally off the charts and lend credence to other claims that Hurricane Sandy is possibly being engineered to cause massive destruction.

In a Facebook post, the HAARP monitoring website posted this startling description above the photo of the readings:

Strongest readings in the history of this project have peaked. A never before seen white-shade indicates that a value higher than 10 on the

1-10 scale has been indicated. It has no color assigned!

HaarpStatus has finally come to a bullseye over what looks like Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Current projections at NOAA say Hurricane Sandy will hit New Jersey. Our status numbers disagree. The storm is being steered toward the higher concentration numbers.

Truly remarkable numbers and it is one to archive because this may never be seen again in a very long time.

A post on theWeatherSpace.com also reported on the readings from HAARP Status and confirmed that these readings have, until now, been unheard of.

The article noted that while the National Weather Service is claiming that the hurricane is set to hit New Jersey, HAARP Status is predicting landfall in New England. (which is where the off the chart HAARP patterns has been recorded.)

“I’ve never seen it that white before,” said TheWeatherSpace.com Senior Meteorologist Kevin Martin.

“They indicate the white means higher than their values can hold so whatever it is is a bad signals.”

Regardless of where the hurricane actually hits, these readings seem to indicate that some sort of engineering of the storm has taken place whether or not it was to push the storm into the country or away from it remains up to the reader to decide.

Interestingly, this remarkable info comes as many in the alternative media have speculated whether or not Sandy was being engineered in order to somehow disrupt the elections.

In the broadcast above, the fact that this storm could very well knock out power throughout the east coast, therefore completely and totally disrupting the election as a way to somehow keep Obama in power, is detailed meticulously.

This is a very important point when you consider that we now apparently have off the chart HAARP readings throughout the east coast.

The obvious hope is that the storm will decrease in strength as it moves closer to the United States and this may very well happen but the fact remains that weather modification is a 100% real, declassified FACT and ignoring its possibility would be outright insane. -

7 children fall ill at Toronto Art Gallery

The Hazmat team is investigating after seven children fell ill at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Friday afternoon.

One child fainted and four others complained of abdominal pain while viewing the Frida & Diego exhibit.

They were taken to hospital as a precaution and are expected to be fine.

“Preliminary indications are it might be carbon monoxide,” Toronto police Sgt. Ian McLaughlin said.

“There’s no levels of anything outside the ordinary inside the AGO. It may have been something out in the street, like a construction site or a bus idling,” he added.

The children are about 10 or 11 years old, he said. They had taken the subway to the gallery.

An adult woman was also taken to hospital from the AGO, but it was unrelated to the children falling ill, McLaughlin said.

The AGO released a statement, saying, "As the safety of visitors and staff is the AGO's top priority, the exhibition space was immediately cleared and environmental conditions were fully assessed."

"Testing confirmed that the Gallery's air quality is excellent throughout the building, and shortly thereafter the exhibition was re-opened." - CityTV

North Korean minister 'obliterated'

A North Korean army minister was reportedly executed with a mortar round for drinking and carousing during the official mourning period after the death of Kim Jong-il.

Kim Chol, the vice-minister of the army, was taken into custody earlier this year on the orders of Kim Jong-un, who assumed the leadership after his father died in December. On the orders of Mr Kim to leave "no trace of him behind, down to his hair", Kim Chol was forced to stand on a spot that had been zeroed in for a mortar round and was "obliterated", South Korean media reported.

The execution is just one example of a purge of members of the North Korean military or party who threatened the fledgling regime of Mr Kim.

So far this year, 14 senior officials have fallen victim to the purges, according to intelligence data provided to Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the South Korean foreign affairs, trade and unification committee.

Those that have fallen from favour include Ri Yong-ho, the head of the army, and Ri Kwang-gon, the governor of the North Korean central bank.

Analysts suggest Mr Kim is acting to consolidate his power base and deter any criticism of his youthfulness and inexperience. He is believed to be either 28 or 29.
"When Kim Jong-un became North Korean leader following the mourning period for his father in late December, high-ranking military officers started disappearing," a source told the Chosun Ilbo newspaper.

"From information compiled over the last month, we have concluded that dozens of military officers were purged."

It also appears that Mr Kim told officials to use the excuse of misbehaviour during the mourning period to remove any potential opponents.

Other officials have been executed by firing squads.

Since being elevated to second-in-command by his father in 2010, Mr Kim has reportedly been behind the dismissal of at least 31 senior officials. - SMH

Strange Howls / Grunts - Southeastern Cambria Co., PA

I received the following report from Ron Gallucci, who is a fellow member of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society:

Strange Howls and Grunts

Date: Tuesday Oct. 23rd and Wednesday Oct. 24th, 2012

Location: Southeastern Cambria County, PA

Time: No time given, late last night and early this morning

Here is the actual message I received from the homeowner:

Heard very strange noises last night in large wooded area behind house. At first I thought coyote with dogs answering but my dogs didn't alert. Then it got louder and was a mix of high pitch and lower vocalizations, almost like doe alerting but much louder. Heard again this morning, the doe snort sound. Dogs went nuts trying to go after it. Any sightings or reports in the area?

"I went up and looked around the area for about 1 1/2 hours this afternoon. At one point I spooked something on the hill above me. Heard loud crashing and something running but did not see anything. Most likely deer but was enough to get my heart racing. I attached photos of the area. The sounds were coming from down over the hill behind the shed on the edge of the property. The area was full of old coal boney piles and thick pines and very hilly. There were two interesting finds: 1 possible impression that measured 13 inches and some type of stick structure. The sighting location is only a 10 minute drive from my house. I gave the homeowner my cell phone number to contact me if they hear the sounds again so I can head back out to witness them myself. If so I will get them recorded. Until next time...."

Ron later noted "There have been sightings in this area in the past but not since the 80's and 90's. Maybe it supports the fact that they are creatures of habit and do migrate through the same areas. If I get a follow up I'll let you know. I may head out there tomorrow for a bit to look around again. Maybe come in the woods from the opposite side to see if I can find a travel route."

NOTE: The Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society has a list of Cambria County sightings and incidents. I'm fairly familiar with the area just north and east of the general location. In fact, I am aware of at least 2 incidents from 2009 in and around Glendale Lake (near Prince Galitzin State Park). Here is one of the incidents that was chronicled by the BFRO and other assorted incidents in Cambria County over the years. We don't want to get too specific with where this incident occurred. I do have to hand it to the membership of the PBS...they are all about research and protection. I'm proud to be a part of these committed folks...Lon
