Just the Facts?: UFO 'Secrets' to be Revealed -- Osaka, Japan UFO -- Werewolves in the USA

UFO 'Secrets' To Be Revealed In September, Says National Atomic Testing Museum

By Lee Speigel - In just a few weeks, some kind of UFO-related secrets will be revealed at a Smithsonian Institution affiliated museum.

That's the implied promise in the title of a special lecture coming up at the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas on Sept. 22.

The secrets haven't yet been revealed, but the players involved certainly present the potential for something intriguing to emerge from this one-night event that's part of the museum's ongoing Area 51 lecture series.

"We looked at bringing in some people to talk about extraterrestrials and UFOs," said museum CEO and executive director Allan Palmer, a highly decorated former Air Force and Navy combat jet fighter.

"We wanted to concentrate on people who had personal stories and exposure to what they thought were real UFOs from the military side, because they might have just a little more credibility than your average Joe," Palmer told The Huffington Post.

Four of the participants had previous American military security clearances:

Ret. Army Col. John Alexander: Former military insider who created Advanced Theoretical Physics -- a group of top-level government officials and scientists brought together to study UFOs.

Ret. Air Force Col. Charles Halt: Former base commander of the RAF Bentwaters military base in England and vital eyewitness to the amazing UFO-related events at Rendlesham Forest in December 1980, where he believed the observed UFOs were extraterrestrial in origin.

Ret. Air Force Col. William Coleman: Former USAF bomber pilot, chief of Air Force public information and producer of NBC's "Project UFO" series.

Ret. Air Force Col. Robert Friend: Former director of the Air Force's Project Blue Book from 1958 to 1963.

The fifth guest at the museum's upcoming UFO lecture is former U.K. UFO desk officer Nick Pope.

What's going to be different about this one-time lecture compared to previous gatherings where military personnel have stepped forward to reveal details about personal UFO experiences?

"One of the things that is different is that you have high credibility vetted sources," Alexander told HuffPost. "What you're getting from this panel are people who have worked with the military, all of whom certainly agree that UFOs are real, and I think most of them would say it ought to be researched.

"Here, you're getting a small number [of participants], but high credibility people."

At the Sept. 22 lecture, Pope will speak of the similarities between how the U.K. and U.S. governments had similar UFO study groups and why both countries officially got out of the UFO business.

"In both instances, the bottom line was that we wanted Joe Sixpack off our backs. Strip out all the mistaken sightings of weather balloons and dump all the crazies, and we might just have something worth looking at," Pope told HuffPost in an e-mail.

"But you can't do that in a public UFO project, because it's a kook magnet," he said. "The trick is to highlight all the crazy stuff in the media, so the subject becomes a joke, pull the plug, then run the whole thing covertly. Now I'm not saying this is exactly what happened, but if an Air Force pilot sees something unusual and it's tracked on military radar, does anyone seriously think we wouldn't be interested?"

While none of the participants of the upcoming lecture have offered a preview of any UFO revelation, Pope promises to disclose "some hitherto unrevealed secrets of the British government's UFO project."

This isn't the first time the Las Vegas museum has offered a provocative UFO presentation.

Back in March of this year, the Smithsonian venue opened its doors to an ongoing exhibit called "Area 51: Myth or Reality," providing a comprehensive look at the historic records of the most secret military installation in the country.

Among the many items displayed are materials presented as "Authentic Alien Artifact" -- samples of small objects originating from an alleged UFO crash in Russia. - THP

Mysterious cluster of lights spotted above Osaka

On the night of Aug. 30, a cluster of multicolored lights was seen floating in the the sky above Osaka.

Several people reported to Twitter that they saw a group of lights forming a triangular shape and flashing green, red and white in the night sky above Izumi city in Osaka Prefecture.

The sightings caused a commotion on Twitter after one user wrote: “Everyone in Osaka, go outside! There’s a UFO!” prompting others to grab their cameras and snap up photos of mysterious luminous object.

Still, some people were quick to discredit claims that the lights are a UFO, pointing out that traditional sightings report UFOs as being circular in shape.

But this could be some kind of new, low-flying UFO model. And Japan has proved to be a popular UFO destination in the past. - japantoday

Werewolves in the USA

By Alejandro Rojas - In the movies werewolves enjoy much of the same mystique and magnetism as their archenemy... the vampire. Both are seductive bad boys, although romantic encounters with the prior are portrayed as carnal and wild, as opposed to the mesmerizing sophistication of vampiric liaisons. It is no wonder young heroines have a hard time making up their minds. Lucky for the parents of teenage girls, werewolves are only mythological creatures brewed up in the imaginations of creative storytellers. At least that was what I thought until I flipped through the pages of Linda Godfrey's new book, Real Wolfmen: True Encounters in Modern America

Godfrey had not thought much of the issue either until late 1991. As a writer for a newspaper in Walworth County, Wisconsin, she had decided to write a story on local reports they had received of a large hairy animal described as a dog that walked on its hind legs. Her story sparked a nationwide fascination with what was being dubbed the "Beast of Bray Road." The events apparently not only pique the interest of Godfrey, but of people throughout the United States.

Since then Godfrey told me in an interview via email that she has received over 100 similar reports, and like the witnesses in Wisconsin, she believes many of them to be credible. She points out in her book that the History Channel's MonsterQuest television show put several witnesses with similar accounts to the test using a polygraph. They all passed.

As for the nature of these creatures, she has not found that the reports fit the traditional ideas of werewolves that we see in films. Godfrey wrote me:

I do not believe the upright canines are shapeshifting humans, but rather: 1. Some type of wolf or wolf/dog that has adapted to walk bipedally when it wants. 2. As explained to me by some Native Americans, a "spirit" creature that can move between worlds (dimensions?) but is fully corporeal when here with us.

Godfrey's book does not only focus on cases here in America; she also gives a history of the phenomena stemming back for centuries throughout the world. She notes that many of the historic reports are similar to those she has collected in the United States. They also often consist of an upright canid that runs off into the night on two legs. Fortunately, wolfman reports globally usually result in the creature trying to elude detection as opposed to vicious attacks.

Godfrey says it is important that people are informed of these credible reports so they can feel comfortable to report their own sightings. Although she concedes that, "Many people report their sightings to local authorities but are often disbelieved or ridiculed I don't know of any law enforcement or conservation entity that recognizes these creatures as existing." Still she believes the more reports that are received; the more we can begin to understand the nature of the phenomena.

However, if you are seeking to have your encounter, Godfrey advises:

"These creatures are very elusive, and seem to travel. Therefore you shouldn't expect to see one for sure if you travel to a sightings area, especially if the sighting occurred years ago. But keep a camera close at hand -- you simply never know where these beasts will turn up next!"
It is hard to believe that such a creature could exist. However, the witness accounts in 'Real Wolfmen: True Encounters in Modern America' are often very compelling. Pick up a copy and see for yourself. The book is hitting the shelves this week, and can be purchased on Amazon.com.

Zoo keeper claims a new panther sighting in Victoria

A wildlife keeper has become the latest person to claim a panther sighting in Victoria.

The Wild Action zoo keeper said she was approaching the Mt Macedon zoo early this morning when the predatory cat ran came within metres of her before dashing off.

The former Parks Victoria ranger, who wouldn’t give her name, said while she was previously a skeptic, she was “adamant” the animal she saw was a panther.

“It was the size our dingos, it was on all four legs and it moved like a cat and it had a long tail coming after it,” she said.

“I know it sounds crazy and I wouldn’t have believed myself."

“(But) I’m so adamant of what I saw.”

The fresh sighting comes after the State Government recently announced a review into all reported sightings of the legendary big cat.

The keeper said she entered the gate to the zoo just after 6am.

She spotted what she thought was a wallaby trying to escape through fox wire, but it turned out to be a large black cat.

She said the animal bolted past her through the open gate, before she ran to hide in the reptile shed.

“I was so scared, thinking I was going to die,” she said.

Wild Action owner Chris Humfrey, who is experienced in tracking wild cats, said the animal’s footprints were consistent with a large cat.

He also said two large Western Grey Kangaroos and a Cape Barren Goose had recently been found decapitated nearby.

Mr Humfrey said he would set thermal imaging cameras around the zoo to record the animal if it returned. - news.com.au
