Man Seriously Ill After Contracting Mystery Virus
A severely-ill man from the Middle East is being treated in a London hospital suffering from a mystery respiratory virus that has killed one patient in Saudi Arabia.
The 49-year-old is in intensive care after being transferred to the UK via air-ambulance from Qatar where he was taken ill a few weeks ago having recently visiting Riyadh.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said the infection is a new type of coronavirus different from any previously found in humans.
Sky's Health Correspondent Thomas Moore said: "He's being treated in isolation in hospital with barrier nursing where he's severely ill with renal failure and breathing problems and hospital staff are looking to make sure no-one else will come into contact with this virus."
Coronaviruses are responsible for illnesses such as the common cold but can also cause more severe infections, like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars).
Professor John Watson, from the HPA, said: "In light of the severity of the illness that has been identified in the two confirmed cases, immediate steps have been taken to ensure that people who have been in contact with the UK case have not been infected.
"Further information about these cases is being developed for healthcare workers in the UK, as well as advice to help maintain increased vigilance for this virus.
"This information is also being shared with national and international authorities including the World Health Organisation and the European Centre for Disease Control."
Between November 2002 and July 2003, an outbreak of the Sars coronavirus in Hong Kong spread to 37 countries, infecting 8,422 people, 916 of which later died.
The Saudi Ministry of Health announced at the weekend that the new virus had been diagnosed in two people, one of whom later died.
They added that coronaviruses are well known and most of those diagnosed with them recover with no complications after receiving treatment.
However, in some cases, infected patients develop complications affecting the respiratory system and the kidneys, which can cause death among elderly patients or those with respiratory and heart conditions. - sky

(Email unedited) - "Earlier this evening, i left the house to go to the local convenience store, and i usually ride my bicycle, never have any problems or encounters of any kind, but tonight this was different. as i left the garage, and closed it, i heard a blood curdling scream from across the street at the neighbors house, and then a hissing sound like a cat but from a human throat...and the little girl ran to the door, frantically opening it and slamming it behind her...which put my senses on high alert as i passed the house...
At first i thought it was just a prank, but then i hear something moving like it was running into trash cans and the parked vehicles in their driveway, then as i rode away something hissing was chasing me for a short distance, i could hear it but not see it, and i rode like hell to get away...i stayed at the convenience store for hours until i was pretty sure whoever or whatever it was would be gone, thinking about what route i would take back to the house and how to get inside as fast as i could in case it was still there...
I planned my route carefully, because there is a hill before i get home, so i wanted to make sure my speed was adequate enough for me to zoom past that house to my own garage...well, i successfully rode up the hill with remarkable speed and into the driveway and just as i was about to open the garage again, the thumping and crashing happened again, and right before i closed the garage, mashing the button on the wall i could hear the hissing again...i hurried up and ran inside and closed the door making sure everything was locked up tight...
Whatever it was doesn't move fast, but it seems relentless, and now i know it was not just a prank, but something very strange...
I still did not get a good look at it, but i know it was there, whatever it was...
If you have ever heard the sounds that feral ghouls make in fallout 3, well that was identical to what i heard...

Illinois driver follows low hovering lights near Urbana
Mayville, IL, August 15, 2012 (unedited) - saw lights hovering over highway.i thought it was a airplane but it didnt move as i came up on it.
At 12;25 a.m. aug 15 coming home from work i turned from us 130 onto us 150 heading east leaving Urbana,Ill and as i came over a very small ridge i saw a bright white lights directly over the highway about 4 miles away.I thought it strange to see something that bright and low.Well i thought it was just a small plane following the highway and expected it to turn and go on its way but it just stayed over the the road.I traveled 1 mile and was going to make my turn to go home but the lights was still there and seemed to be not moving so i stayed on highway and thought i would go to next cross roads in Mayview,Illinois just to satify my curiosity and would only be a mile out of my way and see why this light wasnt moving. Well i got to my second cross roads and the lights were still there but had moved south a little off highway and i thought to myself this is really strange so instead of turning off i continued down the highway slowly and i noticed the lights had moved south as i came upon a elevator called Fulls Siding just a mile east of Mayview just 200 yards to the south of the highway.I was looking out my front windshield and saw 2 white lights on the ends and in between i saw violet lights red lihgts blue lights and green lights. Some were blinking rapidly some slowly and some stay constant.The lifhts were about 50 to 70 feet long and about 150 to 200 feet in the air and about 200 to 300 yards away.Now this where i started acting strange.As i was watching it i thought i will stop and get out of my truck and get a detailed look at this because i noticed no other cars coming so i could stop right there and get out but something in my head said NO YOU DONT WANT TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK. So i said to myself Im gonna pretend i dont see this thing and im gonna go to the next road and turn around get my phone camera out and take a picture of this thing but when i turned around it was gone and also this whole time there was no noise.When i came back to where i saw it i started scanning the sky and saw the same lights had moved back to the southwest and they were gone.Next day i got on google map and located the area where i saw it and saw a private grass landing strip and thought to myself okay someone had something up so i called the person who owns it and told him what i saw and he said he flys small single engine plane but had landed before sundown and he said he and no one else would have anything that big in there or be flying after sundown. Also on saturday september 8 i saw the same lights from my house at around 9;30 p.m. They were about 3/4 of a mile east of my house which would be 2.5 miles north of where the previous encounter happened. This light was about 100 to 150 feet in the air moving very slowly south. I yelled at my wife that i am looking at the same object i saw 3 weeks before and told her im getting in the truck with camcorder and binoculars and get a video but when i came out the house i could see this light fly away at high speed souhteast and was over Saint Joepsh ,Ill in a matter of seconds. - MUFON CMS 42752
