Did Race Explain Penn State's Blind Eye to Sex Scandal?
Enough of the ghoulish, sordid facts are known about the Penn State University child sex scandal to say this. The alleged child rapes were known by some athletic department members, up to and including the football program boss, JoePa, Joe Paterno. The rumors, or worse, knowledge of the rapes may have been known by or at least heard of by others still unnamed that could eventually be a winding tangle through university staff, faculty, administrators, trustees, and corporate donors, and politicians.
The two prime offenders charged with the crimes were not some causal locker room jocks and hangers on, but long term, respected, and highly positioned athletic department mainstays. The Second Mile Foundation that served as a cover for the alleged rapes by its founder, the disgraced and accused child rapist Jerry Sandusky was not some fly-by-night, drive by, fast buck operation, but a well-established foundation that had been in business for more than three decades. Sandusky was with the Foundation from the start in 1977 until just last year. Even as the scandal unfolds, it is still in business. It has a big, impressive, full bodied website that boasts of its accomplishments, has three offices, and is actively soliciting donations. The reporters that have tried to get a comment from foundation officials have been summarily hung up on. Continue reading at opednews
NOTE: this entire sex scandal at Penn State is tearing me apart emotionally. I have been a fan of the school and its athletics since I was a boy. The fact is that a few of the parties in this scandal are people who I have known and interacted with over the years...and I am as shocked as everyone else. Nonetheless, the facts need to come out and those responsible for this outrage should be punished to the full extent of the law...Lon

Snakes in the head!
Entertainer forces poisonous snakes through his nose and out of his mouth.
Fei, from east China's Jiangxi Province, has been performing the death-defying act for the past 30 years - what a charmer.
Sometimes, when he feels like it, the 53-year-old will even use two 3ft snakes instead of one.
It hasn't all been smooth sailing for the snake swallower though - Fei has had several close calls with his wriggly friends, the most serious being when he swallowed one accidentally.
Luckily for him, the serpent died in his stomach before it could cause any damage.
He does live a charmed life it seems.

Day trip to the mnts. 4 or 5 of us. We all felt like we werent up there for as long as the clock was saying. My brother had to get to work by 4pm. He was worried about being late all day, so I know we didnt just let it slip by. About two weeks later I was reviewing some pic on my camera and found the craziest picture. At first I wondered what it was I was photographing. The pic was just trees the side of a cliff and the sky, but when my eyes saw what I thought they saw my jaw dropped. To the right of the picture are two beings I understand you call greys. One is holding what appears to be some sort of testing device, and the other is directly behind the first. looking straight at me. creepy. I can remember the exact spot where I parked my jeep, I can remember my girlfriend asking why I was stopping, and I remember leaning on my jeep while I took this picture. I can not remember seeing it though. I havto have seen it. why else would I take a picture of the hill! Another thing, knowone else remembers anything. I have been up there twice since. the last time was about two weeks ago. The dirt road is now blocked half way up. If you google (green mnt. road washington you will see half the mnt. when you get to the point on the road I took the picture, its blacked out. I will be going back up soon to see what else I can remember, and to see what I can find. - MUFON CMS

New intergalactic travel insurance
If you thought the cost of travel insurance was out of this world, prepare for the next frontier, where a policy for a space trip cancellation might set you back 700 euros.
Travel insurance provider Allianz Global Assistance has teamed up with the International Space Transport Association (ISTA) to look at providing 'bespoke' travel insurance for space tourists as flights and holidays outside of our planet become more reality than fantasy.
'At Allianz Global Assistance, we are looking into space tourism as a new market for the next generation of travellers,' said Erick Morazin, Director of Global Accounts.
'Space is decidedly our new frontier and we are now ready to take this giant leap forward to ensure peace of mind and well-being of all our future space-travelling customers.'
Mr Morazin told TravelMail that they were hoping to offer insurance products from January 2012 but could only make predictions based 'on the current knowledge we have.'
He added that they were working out the particulars as operators other than Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic - which plans to offer commercial space flights from October 2012 - potentially entered the market.
Mr Morazin said there were currently 20 different elements that needed to be taken into account in regards to insurance and space tourism.
Products would include cover for aspects such as space training, the duration of the trip and trip cancellation.
Mr Morazin used the example of Virgin Galactic where a ticket costs $200,000 (£126,726) and the deposit starts from $20,000 (£12,672).
A cancellation will mean a refund of some of the deposit and the travel insurance - priced around 700 Euros - would cover the shortfall, he said.
Lost luggage, meanwhile, might be another story.
'We don't expect luggage to be lost in space. If the luggage is lost in space, we won't be able to recover it,' he said.
It is unclear what might happen if space tourists are taken ill or indeed if your passport is stolen by intergalactic pickpockets.
A statement from Allianz Global Assistance this week reassured tourists: 'The two partners are committed to accompanying travellers before, during and after their space flight to ensure that their unique galactic experience, as well as the experience of their families back on earth, will be as safe, serene and comfortable as possible.'
The news comes as no surprise as the battle for space tourism has been hotting up in recent years.
Virgin Galactic has invested in its 1,800-acre Spaceport America base in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
And this summer Russia also unveiled its plans for a 'boutique' hotel in space with room for just seven guests in four cabins.
Visitors will be able to enjoy views of earth through large windows and feast on microwave meals rather than freeze-dried fare.
Transfers will be a mission though - it will take two days aboard a rocket that costs a rather eye-watering £500,000. And that's on top of £100,000 for a five-day holiday at the hotel. - daulymail

Indian girl weeps stones
7-year-old Kura Nitya has become the talk of Karimnagar, India, because of this strange daily occurrence, which began October 26. [map]
“Initially, we were unaware of what the object popping out was since it was smaller in size, but later, we realized they were stones,” Kura’s grandfather Gopal Reddy told IBN Live. “We though it was some divine power and prayed to God for this phenomenon to stop. But, it did not stop even then,”
Kura weeps the stones only from her right eye. They appear at a rate of about 12 to 15 stones per day. The lower portion of her right eye swells minutes before the stones pop out. “During the popping out or after that, I have no pain,” said Nitya.
Observing this abnormal development, her parents approached various ophthalmologists in Hyderabad and Karimnagar who are unable to diagnose what is causing this problem.
When a reporter with IBN contacted ophthalmologist Dr Kalyan Chakaravarthy, one of the doctors who conducted medical tests on Nitya, he said Nitya was medically fit and that he was unaware of what was causing stones pop out of the girl’s eyes. - datelinezero
